Topic: Magic Bike Rüdesheim
Finally it was June 4th. Last bike check. Passport with me? Tickets? All camping stuff?
10.15 I left home for my first long distance trip on the bimmer. At 18.45 I arrived at the camp site in Geisenheim. Hot hot hot sooo much sun. Had too change clothes, getting the tent ready with heavy protective bikers gear isn't funny. On my way to the toilet building: JB music from a mobile home. Possibly the regional radio station promoting the gig for the evening? On my way back, still JB music. Okay, this means: JB fans! So instead of building up the tent I decided to make a short talk to these people, starting with giving them a compliment on their good music choice. Euhmmm...... after 45 minutes my tent still wasn't there because I had to have a drink with them. When I finally really had to go find a nice place for the tent, they insisted that I should stay next to them. Dinner also together, taxi to the festival also together. So I had big fun before the show even had begun, nice meeting such friendly people.
Okay I started to get a little bit impatient because this was my first JB gig and I heard so many nice stories... So after we got at the Magic Bikers Event I immediately went into the tent and got as far to the front as possible easily, which was at the 4th row. Ligho you were right: no open air concert. Too bad because the view at the old Brömser Burg would have been very nice. Shortly after I got there Joe started with The ballad of John Henry. Great response from the audience. Heads moving and big applause. That was something I was wondering about in advance: how would the crowd be at a Harley Davidson event? Well I can tell you: the people were very nice! They were very much into interaction. The whole gig was rocking! From what I saw on the DVD's, it had more simularity with the older DVD's then with the RAH one. I think it's because it was a tent festival. I was glad about it, because I have problems with sitting still if there's good music on. And OMG the music WAS good ( also LOUD, so few people went a little bit back which made it possible for me to go to the 3th row).
Most of the times if I go to a concert I look at the whole band, but for some reason I didn't pay any attention to the rest when Joe was on (oops sorry boys). I have to admit that the first singing sounded a bit high (tense?) but within the first song everything was SUPER! What a guitar playing, I had cramp in my eyes watching the fast guitar solo's (Does this make sence....I think you all understand what I mean?). What also was big fun that Joe knows how to entertain the audience. Just got payed: he divided the crowd in 3 groups to yell at him after the beginning guitar riffs. I was at the 3rd group, but by the time I he got there I realised I had been screeming my lungs out the other two times allready, hahah.
When the show ended immediately there was request for more (very loud)! I also started shouting very loud "We want more", but after a while I heard they were shouting something else (same rythm). I listened and thought it was "Zugabe" so I switched into "Zugabe" (which off course was also fun!). And Yep there we got the Zugabe.
I had a GREAT time for more than 1 1/2 hour, but hey everything has to end. I decided not to take the cab back, because I wanted to let everything get into my mind what just had happened. So I took a 40 minute walk back to the camp site to get my mind at rest. But after 2 miles all street lamps were out, so I had to walk at the light off my navigation system which isn't that bright at all. Arrived at 0115 at the camp site, but sleep couldn't get me fast. Thank you Joe...
Next day: breakfast with my new friends and a little drink at the Rüdesheim Rhein Boulevard watching Harleys before being on the bike again (to Aynsley Lister - but that's another story).
