Lynnl,
I hear you...  don't agree quite frankly.  My Planet Rock radio show is not about me being a conduit or pipeline for the latest and greatest blues artist.. I play what I want. I don't just listen to blues-(A) ,- (B)   I wont be seen as playing favorites.. I do not  want to be a radio programer. That job is for others..   Planet Rock is so great to let me do what I want. I am so grateful for their support and for humoring me especially  when I want to play a 15 min version of Los Endos.    I will not sit here and defend my choices that is the perk of the job.   Sandi is my girlfriend  and I am happy to tour with my girl that I don't get to see very often. You can understand that I hope.. Generally I don't use opening acts because I need to start at 8 to finish by 10 on a weekday. I think the working fan appreciates the early start and being home by 11:00 pm on a school night.  It is my choice. I am involved in every step of my business and I know a lot about it.  I do blues in the schools in the United States and I invite kids down to the theaters  in the UK and Europe..   I do it all for free and have been for almost 10 years.. Why?  Because I feel the overwhelming need to  give back to the community that allows me to make my living playing guitar. ( I am a very lucky guy)   I also give away more than the 250 Epiphone guitars a year that I buy with my own money.   So to sum up.. I feel I fine about my show on Planet Rock and having my beautiful girlfriend Sandi open the 4 Uk shows.. She is really fantastic.. give her a listen.  Especially now.. I also feel fine about how much I give back .. most of which is not listed here.
Thanks for your feedback ..

Very classy response.  I'm not sure I would've been as tactful had I been in your shoes.  Your stock's going up in my book and while I'm thinking about it are there any plans for you to do some country/rock recordings?

Re: "Merchants and Thieves"

Perfect Joe. It is your music, your show, your girlfriend and your forum. Just like the song, Do It Your Way! All that you give back is just another facet of your life. I really love your schedule for your shows. Not only time for the working folk to get a night's sleep, but time for the parents to bring the youngsters and still get home for school the next day. What a guy! cool
BTW, I think your GF rocks.

Re: "Merchants and Thieves"

I downloaded the album, I listened to it , I didnt like it.  No harm either way.
It means i can prop up the bar when she is on at Hammersmith and Rotherham.

Re: "Merchants and Thieves"

I recently went to see Scott McKeon on the strength of his performance supporting Joe at the Albert Hall. I don't think Joe could have given a young artist a much bigger leg-up than that.

Funnily enough, it was the same for Sandi Thom after seeing her support Joe in Southampton last. year. I for one am very much looking forward too seeing Sandi again at Hammersmith – she does a great live show.
