Jeff, you've got about as much response as I got with a post on Eric Gales. I do love the Texas style blues, and he plays it well. great band also, will check out further and put on the need to buy list. thanks man,

Quick story: My brother Bob was at one of the local jazz cafes outside of Boston, where they hold a Blues Jam (a real one BTW) on Thursdays. Seems that on this particular night there was a lot of very good guitarists there so the jam was great. Rarely there was also a fair bit of macho going on. Not over the top, but noticable.
I've played there before and I can verify that swagger is rare. Anyways Bob was playing, after patiently waiting his turn, and scorching the face off his amp when in walks Ronnie Earl real quiet like. Bob had already punctured a few baloons with his playing, so when Ronnie asked to join in...sure why not?
Mr Earl was evidently in rare form that night because when they broke it down to a quiet few bars, every guitar player in there was frozen with drink halfway to their face and their mouths open. So he blistered their behinds just hanging out with the local yokels and jamming in a pick up band. Good night at the Cafe, eh?

Yeah BJJ. I love that story. Kids at play until the man shows up and shows how it is done. Soul, not too many notes, impeccable phrasing. Texas Blues from the fountainhead. Like Willy Mays walking on to a sandlot game.

awesome story jeff. haven't heard a lot of ronnie earl, but have loved all i've heard, including that story
One of my favorite guitar play of all time. Live in Europe is probably my favorite album of all time.
