It appears after all the rumors earlier, Ronnie James Dio has now passed away. There has been an offical update on his Facebook page and the website confirming that this afternoon RJD has now passed away from his battle with stomach cancer...

One of the first albums I got was "Long Live Rock and Roll" (Casette copy on my 15th birthday)
The only time I saw Black Sabbath was on the Heaven and Hell tour, Leicester deMontfort Hall.

A little guy, an IMMENSE legacy.

We have lost one of the truly great vocalists of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. I got to see him solo (with Vivian Campbell on guitar) and with Heaven & Hell.

Very sad to hear the time had arrived.  Ronnie played at my high school (Elf) before Rainbow, Sabbath or Dio, as he was a friend of friends of mine (those friendships have lasted to this day).  He played bass and sang of course, and it was a fantastic night, especially taken in retrospect of his career which was very long, very strong, and very successful.  What an instantly recognizable iconic voice.  A terribly nice human also.  My condolences to Wendy (another literal angel of LA), family, and friends of Ronnie around the world.  Sad day.  sad
But blessed by him...
