Re: NYC

He had his Marshall Silver Jubilee, Cat 5, Twinkleland, and the Carol Ann JB-100 all running through Cat 5 custom cabs.

I couldn't see his pedalboard too well, but I was able to spot a white pedal (DD-3), a green one (TS-808), and purple one (Pork Loin).  Obviously he had has wah.  It also sounded like he had a phaser on for one song and also played with a bunch of tremelo (back the fulltone supa-trem?).  I don't think there was any vibe units going on.  He also probably had his custom copper fuzz face for the Zep interlude during Just Got Paid.

But most of the tone was coming from the man's fingers!

Thanks for the info.  I also saw what looked to be a DD-3 and a TS-808.  Beyond that I really couldn't get a great look.  I should have gone up to the stage when the show let out to snag a pic of the pedal board.

Were the '58 Korina V and Explorer reissues or original?  The parade of amazing guitars on stage was almost as exciting as the player (almost).

This might have been the first time I've ever seen a show start before the time printed on the ticket.  While I was dissappointed to miss the first two songs, that was certainly my only dissappointment.

Yes, I don't understand why he would start on time, much less BEFORE the official start time. Maybe Joe is still on Tokyo time! It's a shame, I just hate to miss any note, and I"ve now missed John Henry pretty much the last 4 times I've seen him (the other times, it was because I was late--this time--and knowing that would probably be the first time-- I was early--but Joe was earlier!) It's very annoying because I would actually like to hear the very start and buildup of that song live!

Re: NYC

Just to clarify things....All tickets said show starts at 8 pm.....
Joe came on at 8 pm...............................................................

Re: NYC

Re: NYCI was at the Town Hall show last night as well.  This might have been the first time I've ever seen a show start before the time printed on the ticket.  While I was dissappointed to miss the first two songs, that was certainly my only dissappointment.  Joe's playing was simply masterfull, not to mention that parade of Les Pauls - one more beautiful than the next.

I was 4th row center and was lucky enough to catch a JB JazzIII pick he threw out to the audience.  Nice little token rememberence from the show (not that I need one!).  Just an all around great performance at one of the nicest venues in NYC.

For the gear heads out there, I spotted 4 amps he was playing through - The Van Weelden TwinkleLand, the signature Catagory 5 JB, one that looked like a hand wired Marshall and another I couldn't place - a Two Rock maybe?  Just trying to get my gear list together so I know what to buy when I hit the lotto.

i dont know if your watch is running slow but the show didnt start untill 5 after eight . i know this because i was taping the show and i know joe likes to start playing before he come on the stage so i wanted to start my recorder early and when i looked at my phone for the time it was 2 minutes after 8 . so i started to recorded and i would say two minutes later the show started .

Re: NYC

For all that don't know by now, Joe is meticulously prompt on starting his show on time. It starts with the recording of Two Minutes to Midnight. About two minutes after the music starts, Joe comes on from the side stage playing. If you lag, you lose. So, if you are hanging out in the lobby and you hear the music start. Better get to your seat pronto.  smile

Nope, my watch wasn't running slow but I appreciate your concern  hmm .  I'm sure being from NY, this isn't your first concert in the city and you can appreciate that 99% of concerts do not start at the stroke of 8:00 (or whatever time is printed on the ticket).  NYC is a tough place to get anywhere on time due to traffic, subway delays, congestion etc. and usually this is taken into consideration.  I wasn't bitching, just making the comment that it started far earlier than I expected.  My disappointment lasted a total of 2 seconds as I quickly became swept away in the music.

As someone else politely pointed out, Joe likes to start his shows right on time so I only blame myself for not being in the know.  Was your post intended to also be a polite FYI, or a sarcastic flame on a new member?  It came off as the latter.

He was not flaming you.  joebeacon is fastidious and prolific when it comes to recording musical performances.  He is not being argumentative either.  Not his style.  I'll let him speak for the polite FYI or not part, but I know he wasn't being sarcastic, just mentioning he was there, checking his watch based on his experience with Joe's habit of on time delivery-it's really his trademark almost.  If he is ready to go on and the show is ready to go on and the time on the bill, tickets, and wristwatch are ready, get ready because he is hitting it.  I'm not flaming either, that is definitely need to know and remember information.  He is anxious to put on a show and I think it's a fair thing to do and it's a fair warning to everyone, Joe Bonamassa comes to play, and like a scheduled space launch, all clocks should be synchronized and zero means LIFTOFF, he isn't wasting a New York minute.  By the way, this joebeacon guy will very, very likely have his recording of the show available and you can see and hear what you missed!
