Topic: Hi from Berkshire, England

Hi all, finally got round to registering on the forum after a long time spent lurking.

I'm a big Joe fan after being switched on to him by Planet Rock here in the UK. Seen him 3 times so far (Bristol 2008, RAH & Southampton 2009) and have a ticket for the Bournemouth show in May. He is a truly wonderful stage performer and I rate him amongst the best I've seen.

I grew up in the 70/80's on a diet of  Zeppelin, Queen, Rory Gallagher, Tangerine Dream, Rush ect, but these days I find Rory Gallagher dominates more & more of my listening time and the older I get the more I have come realise what a true genius the man was. I was lucky enough to see him live once in the late 70's but now wish I'd seen him more.

Thanks to Joe and this site I have also become aware of some the other great blues talent that is currently around and I looking forward to catching as many of these live as possible in the near future

Cheers
Rich

Re: Hi from Berkshire, England

welcome mothman to the family of Joe. yeah, that live show will get you excited about his future in a heartbeat. I too grew up with that same diet of music, especially love Queen. Live at Wembley is a hoot. that is a good thing too, that Joe makes you want to search out other great blues music. hang around and enjoy, good to have you.
can you guys even breathe over there today, with all the ash fallout? it just looked horrible on video. we experienced something similar couple of years ago with Georgia wildfire fallout. try to stay indoors?

Hi Rich,

Welcome to the club, hope you have a good time and get lots of useful info regarding Joe, his gear and the fans. I too grew up in the 60's,70's and 80's listening to similar artists as you and have only known JB's music for the last year or so, but I have you right that he is one of the best out there at the moment.

Enjoy his show in Bourmemouth, hey, why not write a review after the show, i'm seeing him at the Aplollo in May, so may do the same.

Have fun, enjoy and post often. yikes  yikes

Welcome to the forum Mothman!  You are now officially a non-lurker.  Enjoy your time with us, there are some very knowledgeable peeps on this forum.

We'll try to organise a forum get together in Bournemouth so will look forward to meeting you then.

Re: Hi from Berkshire, England

Welcome Rich. We're almost neighbours. You've found a great place here. You may never escape (if you're lucky  wink  )

Me too for the RAH and Southampton. The RAH was something really special but wasn't the Southampton gig one of the best you've ever seen? I can't do Bournemouth but there's lots of other forum members going. Look out for a gathering pre/post show cool. I will be at Hammersmith though.

Yeah, that's the beauty of it. Joe is the focus but I've been turned on to some great live acts and some bands I may never have heard of otherwise.

Have a great time here and post lots.

cheers

Re: Hi from Berkshire, England

Welcome!  Wow, I must say I'm envious of you.  How fortunate that you were able to see JB at RAH.  It's an awesome DVD, by the way -- which is the only way I was able to see it.  I just saw him locally last week, so I shouldn't complain, but it's hard to be patient, you know?

You'll have fun here.  This is a great group of people, and they're very knowledgeable.  They've been answering all my newbie questions for me.  Welcome!

Chris

p.s.  I was in Bristol a few years ago and it was a lovely city.  Hope to see your part of the world again some day soon!
