Topic: Yet Another Newbie

Hello everyone,
I,m new to the forum and relatively new to JB (about 2 years) I'm an ex-guitarist for the last 20 years and started again about 18 months ago after getting into JB, not that good but getting better every week! Practice is a real bugger, especially when your fingers are nearly 50 years old and haven't been flyin around a fretboard for some time. As well as myself my 15 year old daughter is a big JB fan, interesting as her other favs are Linkin Park, Greenday, Muse, not exactly blues but goes to prove the old saying "Don't knock it till you've tried it" I'm sure that if a lot of the youger kids got a chance to listen to good blues a lot of them would get into it. We are both off to see JB at the Apollo in May.

As a result of my rekindled desire to play I have been in the studio a couple of times and done my own versions of the JB covers of One of these days and Another kind of love, i'm going back in on the 28th to  try and do Django/Just got paid, it will probably sound pants but it has been such a good laugh and experience getting back in to the studio again, especially as I am doing all parts except Drums.

If anyone reads this and come from the Essex area and would like to play at some stage, just for fun, i'm up for it. I have no ego and so rythm or lead is fine, even bass if you want to, just want to enjoy and have a laugh. That's all for now, hope to chat with many of you over the coming months.

All the best to everyone, have fun and laugh like its your first time, you never know. you might like it! lol

An introduction and an invitation and yet no one replied. Bad manners or what?

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I'm sure there will be some takers. Is thr Apollo gig your first time seeing Joe. If yes then you are both in for a treat. Godd that you have someone with you to help put your jaw back in place after it hits the floor!

Re: Yet Another Newbie

I missed your post StewartW. Welcome. There are a number of members who echo your experience here. I hope you can get together with someone to jam. There are a lot of UK players on here. Try posting for a meetup on the gear section where the players hang out.

Hi Stewart + welcome to the forum. smile

Another ex-ex-guitarist here. Seems like there's a new "Inspired by Joe" ex-ex-guitarist dropping in here every week or so...

Does the guitar industry know who is responsible for the increase in guitar & gear sales? They should decorate Joe with a medal. wink

Have fun,

Rusty

Hi Rusty, Thanks for the welcome and thanks to evryone else that has welcomed me, what a pleasent and friendly site this is.
If anyone is interested I have just done a keyboard backing for Django (Django/Just Got paid full version of intro, 3 minutes long) which I will be taking into the studio with me on Sunday to do the rest of the guitars, bass and vocals, although not the drums, we all have our limits! Hopefully it will come out sounding OK. If anyone would like a copy of the backing keyboards for the intro guitar to be played over, let me know and I will send out on CD to anyone that would like a copy.

Thanks again to all for being so welcoming, hope to chat with many of you over the coming months.
