Topic: Seeing Shawn Kellerman

Well I am happy to say I made it to Shawn Kellerman at Darwins in Marietta, GA last night.

What a showman!!  He is the whole package:  guitarist of bags of fast licks, hot tricks, flash chording and just general over the top guitar playing.

It is a shame that Darwins had a small turnout.  Sean deserves a lot more.  But it is more then the economy hurting Darwins as a whole. I wont divulge details but this club has been hurting for some time now and getting major headliners is very infrequent.

Granted Sean does not go over well with everybody. Somebody I know left after Seans first set feeling power trios has been done to death and that Sean played with a see-what-I-can-do attitude.  Maybe so.  I was impressed as this guy was a breath of fresh air.  His interpretations of Rude Mood and Power of Soul were a treat to see as they were obscure numbers and not the usual fare of Pride and Joy and Red House which as far as I am concerned, has been overly done and needs to be stopped immediately.

Sean plays his butt off. And I am happy I finally got to see him. And I hope to see him again.

Glad you went, Blueser.....I'll definitely keep an eye out to see if he'll be in our area as I now have more positive recommendations.  I'll have to dig out the CD that I was given featuring the amazing harmonica wizard Jason Ricci on the track "Burrito Brain".
