Topic: Phoenix Show 3/19/10

My first post! Another Mind blowing show. Joe and band stunned the sold out Phx concert last night. Had the crowd mesmerized by the time he went into the thermin solo on BOJH. Very cool crowd. Joe and band looked like they were really enjoying the gig. Joe was talking about playing the mason jar (small down town bar) 10 years ago to a total of 18 people! Great acoustics at the orpheum, sound was fantastic. We took two friends to there first Joe show and they were amazed. Can't wait for the next AZ show...Wish I was on my way to Santa Fe.

Yes, excellent show!  I got heavy into Joe about two years ago.  This was my fourth show, 1. Tempe summer 2008, 2. San Diego March 2009, 3. Denver Aug. 2009, and 4. last night.  In that time, two studio albums and the most kick **** live album have been released.  Joe's reputation, as well as his stage presence continues to grow. 

Joe and band nailed it once again.  Mesmerizing renditions of Heartaches, Happier Times, and Mountain Time, to name some of my favorites.  An absolutely stunning intro for Sloe Gin.  But what I noticed last night was that songs that I don't like as much, Last Kiss, SILT, Three times a fool, had the most amazingly cool guitar work.   (it's hard to stay away from cliche's)

For all of us out here, who oftentimes just go through the motions of everyday life, what a pleasure it is to witness two hours of Joe, the technical master of his craft, full of passion,  showing us what excellence is all about.  To me, it's rejuvenating and motivating all at the same time.  Until we meet again, Joe,  keep doin' what you do.

My first post too but, Joe made me do it...  Talk about a guitar player.  Joe was amazing. I have seen some great guitar players and he just changed the dynamics of that.   The intro to Sloe Gin... all I can say is a big smile was on my face! It was beyond beautiful and such delicate fret work. Phoenix was treated to a rare moment last night and I am glad to have been a part of it.

Welcome to the Forum Gonzo and DubJ. It seems that every show the band gets better. That intro to Sloe Gin is a continuing work in progress. It is constantly evolving and Joe seems to have a different take on it each time it is played. Run on over to the intro section and let us all know about yourselves and how you got to know Joe. The whole Joeworld feeds on these reports from each stop on the tour.  Good jobs. Thanks to you too Mike14!  smile

I was on the phone with a friend from our high school days as Joe took the stage last night. Randy drove over from Tombstone where he lives and he sounded JACKED UP in anticipation of his first JB live experience or Bonabaptism as we refer to it here. Haven't heard back yet, no doubt he's still in shock. Joe's got that same story for every town with the name of the hole in the wall he first played and got a rise outta the crowd both nights I saw him last week in Sacto., & S.F.

I was at the Friday show and I was absolutely amazed at Joes talent. The only thing I wish was that he had a sound man that knew how to set the mic, you could not hear the lyrics at all. I was not the only person as my wife and I had a work colleague sitting a different part of the theatre and both complained about the poor quality of the vocals.
That said I will certainly be getting tickets the next time I have an oportunity to see him.
