Topic: RIP Charlie Gillett

Charlie Gillett,(Mr World Music) 68, DJ, and broadcaster died 17th March 2010.
        Charlie died last night after a long illness. He will be sadly missed!

Whilst what he played wasn't always to my taste, I respected his very broad church of music.

I don't think I ever saw a photograph of him so I don't know what he looked like but his was a very recogniseable voice. Instantly so. For me anyway.

Encyclopedic knowledge of his subject (as you say Brack - World music), I recall he was a late night friend on more than one occasion. He always sounded like he loved what he was doing. I do hope so. I'll say RIM, Rest In Music which I guess he would prefer to Rest In Peace, although I agree with the sentiment!

Along with the many things charlie did, he managed (early days) Dire Straits, and  Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
