Topic: Hi All

Just a quick hello from Seattle.
Brit ex pat now living in the States, and a few weeks ago a mate from the UK wrote to me and mentioned Joe. I had heard his name and I'm pretty sure I heard Joe interviewed on NPR some months ago. Having said that I hadn't knowingly heard his music except for a brief bit from NPR.
So... I'm now the proud owner of 2 of the Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD's (one for my bro in laws birthday in April).
Great dvd and venue (saw Supertramp there some years ago and used to work just down the road).
I'm a sucker for live albums so I'll be getting more of Joe's stuff soon.
While I like the blues, the excerpts I heard from Amazon from Live from Nowhere sound great..even some Tull and Yes.
And I've just seen that Joe is here next Friday...not sure if I can make it but I can try.
I used to watch the occasional band in the Running Horse Pub in Nottingham (my home town) and while researching on Joe I read that he once played there. Would have loved to have seen it.
Anyway...gotta go as dvd 2 is waiting to start......
Cheers All.

Welcome Dave -

A great bunch of folks on this board I think you will enjoy.

If you are at all fortunate enough to see JB live then go.  It's quite an experience.

Re: Hi All

Welcome Dave. Your appreciation of live music recordings will be well served by Live from Nowhere.... a fantastic release of a compilation of a year's worth of live acts. You will find a large group of UK members here too. As Rockfarmer said, Joe live is something not to be missed. Get there if you can and prepare to be gobsmacked.

Re: Hi All

yes, welcome Dave and Woniron from Seattle. Greetings here from Alabama. I assume one of you plays golf. Joe live is a truly mind boggling sensory overload that rivals any concert I have ever seen, going back to the late 60's. I originally saw him at our City Stages festival, a short 45 minute set. It was really good for us 150-200 people that showed up, however left me salivating for more. My son and I next took the trip to Nashville in 2008 where Larry Carlton sat in for a few songs, and then saw him in Birmingham this past halloween. That DVD is just simply one of the best, it is hard to say you can get enough of it. Moore Theater looks like a pretty fair sized hall, you won't regret making extra efforts to get there. As we witnessed at the festival thing, out in the wide open with no acoustics, Joe and band sound really good in almost any venue. Again, welcome and hope yous guys can make it to The Moore.

As corn through a goose, so are the days of our lives

Re: Hi All

Welcome Dave *Handshake* I hope you got to see Joe! If not, the DVD is the next best thing.
Enjoy!!!
