Topic: Old fan -new user

Hi everybody!

The title has two meanings -tthe second: I am almost 67 years old, and me and my wife (also in her 60s, though probably I shouldn't tell) are old fans of Joe.

We saw him first at a concert before/ together with Steve Winwood (been a fan of that guy for over 40 years) and thought: Unbelievable, this young man Joe! Went home and bought all the CDs and DVDs that we could find and looked for the next concert in southern Germany ...

I already saw that Joe will be returning to Germany again this year and we are looking forward to the next concert.

Now I have to read through this long list of postings to find more interesting things about Joe and his music ...

PS: A nice story about Joe and me. We also were at his concert last year in Mannheim, standing in the front row, where we could see him playing, not just hear him.

During his introduction he told the crowd that he now had been in business for 20 years. When I shouted "Yeah" - he turned in my direction and said laughing "I'm not THAT old" ...

Re: Old fan -new user

Welcome to Joe's message board Wolfi.  This is the best music forum that I've found and you'll enjoy it.

Re: Old fan -new user

Welcome wolfi from another "old " fan with a similar history with Joe. Maybe our paths will cross and we can form a geriatric wing of the fan club.  lol Post often. The forum makes us ageless.  smile

Tach auch Wolfi,

ein herzliches Willkommen aus dem Pott von mir.

I can see you standing front row screaming "Yeah" and Joe thinking "Oh now, I'm not that old".  cool
From 5 Joe concerts I was standing only once front row. I'll work on that.

Sooner or later we'll see us.
What about Bonn on 19 July? You know: a young about 20: Jimmy Bowskill, a guy about 30: Joe and a guy in your age: Jeff Beck.

I wish you a good time here.

Re: Old fan -new user

Thanks everybody for the kind reception!

@Blues Sissi:

We probably wo't make it to Bonn, that's too far.

But I have in my calendar Joe's date at the Honberg Castle in Tuttlingen (southern Germany, less than 100 km form where we live in Germany) on July 20 and we hope we can make it there ...

Good alternative.

So that was you. Funny story. smile We were in Mannheim, too. Up on the "balcony".
Do you remember Joe's look when they startet to blow smoke on the stage? Half amused and half asking "What the f***?!"... lol

Hi Rusty!

Yes, I remember, but I think it was one of those fog machines that was switched on. I'm not sure what really happened, but I think it was switched on remotely by mistake and it took some time for the fog to clear again ...

Hope to see you in some concert this year!

Re: Old fan -new user

Wolfi, "fog machine" - that's the word. Yes, that certainly was by mistake. But did they plan to use the machine that night, anyway? I can't remember that they used it later in the show...

Re: Old fan -new user

@Rusty fingers (I hope this is just in your nick ...)

I don't think Joe wanted to use the fog machine, he really seems to enjoy when people look at him playing. It was fantastic when he moved along the stage to give everybody in the front rows the chance to realise his virtuosity ...

BTW: I just ordered our tickets for the show on July 20th at the Honberg tent festival in Tuttlingen. This will be a great summer for us, we already have our tickets for Winwood and Clapton and we'll also try to get to some show by our local group "Ernest and the Hemingways".

They are a Blues Brothers style band that also plays Santana, CCR, Spencer Davis, you name it ...

Re: Old fan -new user

I wish you lots of fun in Tuttlingen and on the Winwood/Clapton show, wolfi. smile
