Topic: Billy Walton Band.

Went the Greyhound in Nottingham to meet up with Billy before the w/e gigs we have with him. This band is excellent very tight and give it some from the first note. Billy's playing is fast, varied and super clean sound. Very exciting to see, works the crowd well too. For anyone going on Fri and Sat in Feenstra's London clubs your in for one hell of a night. I have a feeling will pull something special out of the bag. The combination of the two bands makes for a superb gig.

Glad you enjoyed Billy & the guys Martin. We caught them last year at the Robin2 and were very impressed. Looks like we'll miss them this time around, but I can echo what you are saying, and recommend that anyone living near to where the band are playing would do well to get down to the gig (especialy as they will also get to see Virgil and the Accelerators at this weekend's gigs).

Re: Billy Walton Band.

Sadly I can't be at either of the gigs Billy is playing with Virgil and the Accelerators Martin but I am looking forward very much to the double header on Sunday with Oli Brown. Hope to see a few familiar faces there too  smile

I saw the Billy Walton Band at Sutton last year and agree with you guys that they're a great band to see live - good musicians and a fun show. Catch 'em if you can.

Re: Billy Walton Band.

Your weekend sounds fun. Mine brightens up on Sunday evening. Maggie, it'll be great to see you, Lydia and Tricia again. And Tripsy, down south again so soon? - fantastic  cool

See you at the 100 Club. Anyone else going? Phil? Eldo?

...well as luck has it... 4 Spaniards jumped in my cab and asked for terminal 3 Heathrow!... at 6.55pm!... and as a result got to see Billy Walton unplug his guitar!  sad

...but a certain young man soon put a smile back on my face!

...nice to bump into a few of The IlluMassati again too!  wink

Yeah, thats another great vid Pete - shame you got the Heathrow gig - I know its not easy for a cabby to turn down those (my dad used to be a cabby too) - you should try and make it to the Borderline on 16th April for Scott McKeon, Stefan Schill and Mitch Laddie.........

Re: Billy Walton Band.

First the Boom Boom on saturday with Virgil and the Accelerators supporting and then at the 100 Club on the Sunday night with Oli Brown Band.
Billy, William and new drummer John Hummel were on fire! They are all such fantastic players and I love the way they have such fun on stage. They are very funny and super friendly. When I wanted some pics after the gig William got us all up on the stage and got Ray the sound guy to take a picture  cool

Thanks Pete for another video masterpiece. I'm sorry you had to rush off but I'm glad you came over to say hello.

Re: Billy Walton Band.

If you wanted something to cheer up a cold damp Sunday evening in London you couldn't ask for much better than The Billy Walton Band. You can't help but warm to these guys. I was standing in front of the stage chatting with Eldo and Tripsy and up comes Billy and joins us. We're chatting away and the drummer starts up – a kind of impatient, come-on-let's-get-on-with-it kind of rhythm. So Billy, cool or what, finishes what he's saying, strolls up onto the stage, plugs in his guitar and lets rip. And boy does he let rip.

This was the second time I'd seen the band and I'd say they were even better than before. It was a shame the club wasn't full but those of us who were there all had big smiles on our faces and were rockin' like we'd filled the place. The Bonabuddies were out in force with Maggie, Lydia and Tricia  dancing away at the front of the stage.

Billy is such a showman. He does acrobatics on that guitar which are fantastic to watch but it's not just show - he's a stunning guitarist. William Paris on bass complements Billy perfectly and in one moody number they were both sitting on the edge of the stage playing like it was just for those of us standing round them. The new drummer, John Hummel,  has really fitted in nicely with the band.

As Tripsy said they're such nice guys too and the group photo on the stage (with Tripsy's camera) was huge fun – thanks William.

I'll put my review of the second part of this double header on the Oli Brown Band thread.

Re: Billy Walton Band.

Nice photos, David. The ladies all look lovely.

It looks like you've bought a good camera, but who's that ghost in pic #21?  lol
