Topic: It Might Get Loud

I bought this DVD the other day, and was very pleasently surprised. I have never been a big White Stripes fan; however, I really enjoyed Jack White and his reflections on the guitar and the blues.

Of course, it was great to listen to Jimmy Page and the Edge.

If you haven't yet, you should check it out.

I happen to be a GIANT Jack White fan....Seen the Stripes 9 times, The Raconteurs 4 times and The Dead Weather once. Jack White is a true genius even though he can be a bit abrasive and too alternitivey-I know that's not a word but you get my point. Jack is kind of a love or hate type thing. What struck me about "It might get loud" was the fact that you have 2 guys that are very adept at ripping....Jack and Jimmy....and then another guy(the edge) who is famous for noodling with sound effects and delays.....uhh what's wrong with this picture? Just think if Joe had been the 3rd artist.....flick would have ultimately ruled at that point, but it's still 2/3rds great.
p.s. if you blues fans have not heard the white stripes "Ball and Biscuit" it's an absolute must!

Interestingly enough, as I was watching this last night, I mentioned to my wife that they should have had Joe on as the third guitarist, and as much as I like the Edge, I just did think he fit. Could you imagine Jimmy and Joe jammin' together.

Great movie! I loved the commentary.. especially from Page. I agree though, I think joe should have been on there. I also would have been happy with Derek Trucks

Got to see the movie on, believe it or not, a non-stop transatlantic flight. What a pleasant surprise. Very enjoyable and I loved all the stuff by Page. Definitely worth a view.

Re: It Might Get Loud

Not a fan of U2 or the Edge and at first I thought "what is he doing in this" but the more I watched it I thought it was cool how they showed the different approaches to the guitar and guitar playing.

Jack White- Very rustic and raw. A minimalist.
The Edge- Totally loves the effects. Seems like the more the better.
Jimmy Page- Les Paul / Marshall and he'll create the sounds.

Re: It Might Get Loud

I hate to say this but I was not an avid fan of these guys but have to say I ordered it through Amazon the other day and watched it this morning. Very interesting, intuitive and educating. The Edge clearly has developed a "technique" that has become his "sound" using tons of delays and reverbs - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's just amazing that every number he plays is set up on a computer so that the effects are unique to that particular song. Jack White has a unique style and direction which, although not exactly my cup of tea, is nontheless interesting in its development. Jimmy Page was able to demonstrate so many great riffs, that sounded great just straight off the cuff. I loved the Theramin comment about "no strings - but great fun!

A good video - worth every penny!

Blu-ray. Rips it up - something I can enjoy continuously for the rest of my life. Essential.

Re: It Might Get Loud

got the Blu-Ray of this last week, - and the best bits by a country mile are the scenes that were left out of the movie  roll the "deleted scenes"!

The film itself does not have enough of the 3 of them jamming together and that for me was where the magic is, to see the look on the faces of 3 excitable overgrown school-boys as they discover each others riffs and jam along to them is superb. 7nation army as Jimmy gets into it is wonderful

I bought the movie on iTunes but I just got 4 deleted scenes (strings, theremin, nicknames and an animation)... I think I'll have to order the DVD  hmm

This movie is really different from others. All actor and actresses perform well.
