Topic: New Joe obsessive here

Hi everyone.

My name is Demi and I live in Nottingham UK. I first discovered The Great bonamassa on May day bank holiday last year. I clearly recall listening to my new DAB radio and tuning into Planet Rock for the first time as I was just starting to get into classic rock (I'm aware 33 is a little late, but better late then never eh?). I heard a song that had not only me but my classical music loving fiancee silent and open mouthed as we listened intently. It turned out to be The Ballard of John Henry and it sparked my rush to purchase the album download which in turn started my obsession.
I was then surprised in November when a pair of tickets for Joe's show in Nottingham were produced buy my wonderful fiancee. Having never really seen much live music I was absolutely exceited and not sure what to expect. I was absolutely blown away and spent most of the performance in tears and gave Joe the first, second and third standing ovations I've ever had the guts to do! (Sloe Gin, The Great Flood and Woke up dreaming) More album purchases and the RAH DVD later there is no turning back!
I have to admit to having no musical instrument playing ability other than a couple of drum lessons with an awful teacher and a penchant for singing when I think no-one can hear big_smile I should also admit that Joe took my Blues virginity being a Rock music fan originally.
Thank you for the warm welcomes so far and I'm really looking forward to being a part of this great forum after stumbling onto it whilst browsing the store for pick tins.

May I be the first to formally welcome you to Joe's wonderful forum. I can tell from your few posts already that you'll get on just fine here. wink

Where will you be seeing Joe this year? I'm sure you'll meet up with a few Bonabuddies if you let us know which gigs you'll be at.

Hi Demi.

Welcome to the forum. smile

I'm a total newbie in this forum, too. Membershipwise that is. I've been reading posts here for some months now. So I can promise you that you will meet nothing but nice Joe-fans here. And sometimes Joe shows up, too.

Have fun.

Hello from "across the pond" and the land of sunshine and Joe. I too got a laugh from your quote. Post often and hang with members at live gigs. Rick

Hi Demi, and everyone else here smile

When I saw Joe last May, that was the first time I'd really got into him and I know just what you mean - he's just mesmerising to watch and his voice sends tingles down my spine.
I'm a huge fan of Planet Rock too, and as you might see on my intro, they've given us tickets to meet the man!!
I <3 Planet Rock!! lol big_smile
I can't play or sing, but I'll definitely be taking my blow-up sax with me next time! cool

Re: New Joe obsessive here

Hi everybody!

I'm from somewhere near Amsterdam and I got to know Joe's music only recently. At the Aynsley Lister forum they were talking about him a lot, so I got curious. Never heard him on the radio here in Holland (at my home there's allways mainstream radio on, a nice compromise between my friend and I) and at the local music store only 2 JB cd's were available. I bought them right away and after listening I ordered the rest on internet. The RAH dvd is nonstop in my dvdplayer.
Unfortunately I had to work when he was in Amsterdam in Carré. Now I bought tickets for the Magic Bike Event in Rüdesheim (Germany), it's a Harley meeting (but my bike's a Kawasaki, o, o....). It's a 4 1/2 hour drive!!! Wonder what your longest distance is you have ever travelled for a gig? I'm pretty sure I'm not the winner if it comes to this, but for me it's kind of weird to travel that far for a concert.

Bye!

Re: New Joe obsessive here

Hi bibi. You're not alone in Amsterdam as there are others here from there. Long trips to catch Joe are de rigeur for us Bonaholics. I am going on a 1000 mile jaunt next month to see him so welcome to the traveling club. Enjoy the crew, post often. Rick

I think I posted my topic at the wrong place... It's now where it belongs..
And Demi... if you think 33 is late.. In two weeks I'm getting 40, so you're not late at all!
