Topic: Diet Coke Anyone?

Hi guys, I have to admit I have been on the forum for a few months now and have found it great. Just getting round to registering now so I can throw my 10 cents worth into the mix!
Seen Joe a few times, I play guitar myself and have to say Joe has inspired me in many ways, in terms of tone, feel and 'all round good guy attitude'.
The one question I would ask Joe is not anything about gear or about playing, but rather:

'How many Diet Cokes do you drink per day?'

Saw Joe in Belfast in December and he had a cold one in his hand before the band had even walked off stage at the end of the show.
I am also, I am ashamed to say and addict and oftin sink 5-6 cans (must be cans) per day.

Does this make me a bad person?

Guitars: 95 Les Paul Standard, Relic Strat,
Amps: 1973 Marshall JMP 50 head and Vintage Modern Cab. I use no effects other than a Cry Baby on occasions.

Re: Diet Coke Anyone?

Haha, I've noticed too man,, at a soundcheck I saw him at (I believe you commented on my video from there), he had several cans of Diet Coke, on his cabs too! In the middle of one song, I recall (those heads must be driven SO hard :L haha) a can fell and spilt on the floor (just missing his Van Weedlen Cabs yikes) But yeah, it's a cool drink, so what, haha.

Doesnt make you a bad person though, lol.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for commenting on my video! smile

Yes, just watched your video before I joined the forum. How weird that out of everyone you're the first to post a reply to me!
I think you played really well in the video, I always find playing through someone else's gear and guitar (no matter how great their stuff is) is always difficult.

What guitar and rig do you usually  play?

Re: Diet Coke Anyone?

...oh no!.. Joe`s managed to ditch the steak and scotch and funnel cakes and ice cream... and now he`s on the Aspartame!?! wink

Haha, yeah I know right? Coincidence....
I usually play a PRS SE Custom through a Marshall DSL Combo (the 1x12 10 watt one)
Maybe sometimes a wah pedal too,,,, I'm not too into pedals, lol, ever since Joe implied not to rely on them, hehe.

How bout you? What do you play through?

Cheers

For me, at the moment a 2004 PRS Custom 24 (best guitar I ever had) in Blue Matteo with a 10 top and birds into a Mesa Boogie Express 5:50 2X12.
However I also have a Strat and have had a few others in the past. If you check out my videos on YouTube (chooseyourblues) you can see some of the different things I've had.
I agree with you about the pedals though, I don't think I have ever plugged one in, played for a few minutes and ever been 100% happy. I usualy Ebay them within days! aS Joe says, 'THERE IS NO MAGIC BOX'
Actualy I've most likely gonna sell the Mesa and a bunch of pedals and get a Marshall, non reverb, maby a 1974X or a Bluesbreaker and then pick myself up another guitar for different sounds rather than depending on pedals. Perhaps a nice Les Paul, SG or 335?
