Topic: Hello from Kev

Caught Joe on the Jools Holland show last May and not looked back. Never believed at the age of 55 I would discover such a talent as this guy. Amazed to find Llandudno on the tour last year, went to gig in November and found there's quite a few over 50's so didn't feel out of place. Even more amazed to find that Joe has inspired me to learn to play guitar, had a stratocaster about a month and coming on well.
Got tickets for Rotherham and wondered if anyone knew if Joe would be doing his pre-gig educational talk? I know it's supposed to be for youth's, but would really like the opportunity to listen to him.

Re: Hello from Kev

First off, sorry we've been a bit tardy replying.

Anyway welcome to the forum. The idea, when you feel up to it, tells us a bit about yourself and maybe even stop by the chatroom at the appointed hours on Monday or Tuesday if you feel your typing is up to it.

Age wise, you are in good company but JoeB's fans and forum are a broad church and he appeals to all ages which speaks volumes for the music he plays, the way presents it and the relationship he has with his public. There is a lot of respect and it is two way. Thats very appealing in this day and age.

As you have seen him live already then presumably your jaw has been fixed back in place and you are no longer gibbering to friends and family. It's a fantastic thing that he has inspired you to play yourself and I would expect he'll get quite a kick out of reading that. If you're inspiring people then you are reaching them in a fundamental way which is just what music should do.

Check back in often. There are lots of threads and although not a big forum person myself, from what I have seen of them there isn't another one quite like this.

As a budding guitarist check out the gear thread. Even if you don't know what they are talking about, and I don't, its fantastic to read sometime. You'll find the guv'nor in there often as well. Its a Gearhead paradise.

Post often and make yourself at home.

Cheers

Re: Hello from Kev

Hi Kev and welcome to the forum. It was great seeing Joe on national TV wasn't it? I'm still hoping that he gets invited back one day and maybe gets to do two or three songs.

I'll be at the Rotherham gig in May. Don't know if he'll be doing anything pre-gig but you never know. You can be sure to hear about it here first if he is going. Then all you need to do is grab a suitably youthful friend/relative/passer-by  to take with you lol

Good luck with the guitaring......Tripsy smile

Re: Hello from Kev

Welcome Kev,

I'm 'only' 52 so I have a while to go to catch up with your good self big_smile

At least you have seen him live, I've followed his music for years, but lack of health & wealth have meant no gig as yet hmm

At least I have the DVD's cool

A bit more of the wealth and I would buy a guitar and learn as well roll

Re: Hello from Kev

Hi Kev

Welcome to the forum.
You're way in front of me age wise.
A whole 12.............................................errrrrr.....months.

Glad you've discovered Joe and playing guitar.

I've ordered tickets for Rotherham as well.

No doubt they'll be some meet ups.

Re: Hello from Kev

Many thanks for your welcomes to the forum. Never been inclined to post anything on any forums before now, just another affect of discovering Joe. Although I was a teenager in Liverpool in the sixties, loved the Beatles, but preferred rock.  Over the years I've enjoyed all sorts of music, but have now discovered blues and sorry I did not latch on to it years ago.

Really looking forward to Rotherham, a bit of a hike from North Wales, but worth it. As it's taken me about 40 minutes just to put this together, I'll just say thanks again and will post something again soon.
