Topic: Hello all - new member, old guitarist
Hello all,
I recently started listening to Joe Bonamassa with some regularity, as I had heard of him in the past and enjoyed his music, but at the time I was into other forms of music and it was not resonating with me at the time. However, over the past year, I have had a bit of a musical awakening and have started to enjoy things I may have dismissed in the past.
One of those is more blues based music. I'm a long time guitarist who has been known to take months, and in a couple of cases, years away from the instrument I love. I came back to it after taking a few years off (unexpected health issues kept me away for far too long) but this past year I started playing again and have bought a few guitars (nothing fancy but they tend to cover a lot of grounds tonally) and a VOX AD50VT (once again nothing fancy, but tonally diverse.) In this rediscovery of blues based rock, I've become particularly enamored by the likes of Joe Bonamassa and also one of my favorites, Richie Kotzen. I liked him back in his shred days, but I absolutely love his later day recording in which he melds, rock, fusion, blues, and funk so effortlessly, much in the same way that I'm loving Joe's work in which he fuses so many styles and a "wears his influences on his sleeve" type attitude. I can only hope that someday I can blend all the music that I love into some form of song as music is important to me in ways words cannot express.
This looks to be a welcoming and warm community that I hope to be a contributing member of.
Thanks for having me,
