Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Sounds interesting - perhaps one day I' ll try, too! But first I have to decide which guitar I get from my parents when I finish school  smile smile I always dreamed of a Rickenbacker, but never played one, so I don't know yet...

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

You're a girl, right? I am always pleased to see girls play electric guitar. Thare are so few.
What music are you into? (besides Joe Bonamassa)

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

My first guitar was a strat. It's the most versatile and the best looking in my eyes ("zeitlos")
Let your parents buy you a Strat! Maybe a Fender Mexico. How much do they want to spend?

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

I love the music of Tom Petty and Roxy music, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan. Oh, and Gerry Rafferty, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, J.J. Cale! But my favourite is Joe.
Yes, there really are few girls sad ... not only with the electric guitar but with many other instruments, too. Though I know a lot of female drummers!

I'm not sure what they'd spend... My first guitar was a Hohner, but now I play my father's Epiphone Les Paul... Yes, I thought about a strat, too, I like the sound very much!

Peace and Love!

Lui:  Hit a few music stores and try as many as you can.  Guitars very between makes and models.  Examine a Fender Strat:  Fender probably makes 30 or more different strats.  And that is without modifying to your own likes.  Examine the feel of the whole guitar, the neck, frets, and tone.  Setp back and really look at it, then do it over again.   Don't rush to make a decision.

Mandrake:  Your motivating me man!  I'm down to about 15 guitars now but I don't have the time to play as much as I would like, let alone tinker with modifications.  Looking for some new pickups and tuner heads now for a LP.  The frets are very wide and I prefer the thinner ones.  I'm going to use this LP for open tuning and slide only.  The pickups are factory standards and I want a little more punch out of them before the Compressor/Gate.

Good luch Lui and Mandrake....Keep up the Great work!

Hi, Mandrake.  The gold Strat is coming out beautifully!  It seems like an art, as well as a science.  I look forward to seeing a picture of it upon completion.

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Thx
my full version... I recorded it today because I wanted all my five Strats to be in one song, for a comparison. You can get the full version on my blog http://couldntstandtheweather.blogspot.com

I'd like to add that I don't think I play too good. But I don't mind and I hope you don't either.
I might quote Joe with this lightbulb thing of one doing it and 4 standing around him saying they can do it better and faster ;-)

I have built this Strat as a tribute to JB and as a personal expression of being a fan and I hope he reads this threads and takes it as an honour because the JB tribute Sparkle Strat is the second I have built after the SRV #1 ;-)

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Hey Mandrake, AMAZING guitars!  they sound great too.  I was wondering what you think of the Fender Texas Specials?  There my favorites right now, however i havent tried Fralins yet, but everyone talks about them like crazy!

Hi Conner,

they talk even more about those Van Zandt Pickups I think. I have the Van Zandts in my SRV (blues model) and in my '66 reissue (vintage plus) - I think almost all those vintage reissue pickups sound pretty good. I haven't played the Texas Specials yet, but I guess they very good, too. It depends on what sound you are after. And you must be aware that there are a lot of parameters affecting the tone: Wood of the body, thickness of the neck, strings and of course your fingers.

The Fralins Vintage Hot I have in my Sparkle Strat are my favorites, judging by the overall sound I get with this guitar. Don't know if it's only the pickups though.

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Thats definitley true, about the wood and the tone in your fingers.  I highly reccomend the texas specials, I have them in a '62 American Flame Top Strat which i just got and it sounds amazing.  Keep building man, you definitly have a knack for it!

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Hey Jane,
I've been searching for that sticker on the back!! Is it that oval "Joe Bonamassa" sticker?
Mhmm... let's see if I can write you a song to melt your heart so you might sacrifice it ;-))

Re: Joe's Gold Strat...

Hi Mandrake, here's a pic of the back if it helps
