Ditto Deezer-love it when younger folks appreciate the Beatles.  And about Double Trouble, it was the highlight of the concert for me, I can still remember how I felt...totally tingled from head down to my toes...just mesmerizing, a fab performance with so much emotion.  I've been meaning to look into what nights different songs were chosen from for the recordings, I'm not sure if its stated.  I was at the Tuesday night performance (2nd show) at MSG.

Yep.

I've just recently gotten into them in the last couple of years, but didn't add any to my collection until recently because I was waiting for the remasters I kept hearing about. They sound very clear and well-done. Some of this stuff you can't believe was recorded in the 1960s. Very cool.

And most recorded on 3 tracks, Abbey Road (listen to Here Comes the Sun to grasp this) was recorded on only 8 tracks-that's as far as they went.  Very Cool indeed.  Great singing, great playing, great engineering, great production, GREAT STUFF!

Thanks Eva for making this an easy task - another forum I frequent has asked for a top 10 and that's way too hard... hmm

My nominations - in no particular order:

The Ballad of John Henry - The Man
White Sugar - Joanne Shaw Taylor
Coming Up For Air - Davy Knowles & BDS
Equilibrium - Aynsley Lister
Rich Man Falling - Simon McBride

These five stand head and shoulders above any other albums I bought this year.

You folks shoud get all five if you haven't already - 'specially that John Henry thing! lol

Ian

Ian, I was going to post "Rich Man Falling" by Simon McBride, but that was released in 2008, so I didn't. wink

Roy

You are so right of course Roy - it was a late 2008 release but I didn't realise that as I didn't hear about Simon until well into 2009.

I've pulled this up again because (like many folks I guess) I had some more great music available to me on  December 25.
One of those was "By A Thread" - Gov't Mule, which in keeping with Roy's post has replaced "Rich Man Falling" (sorry Simon) in my year's top 5. Fantastic album - my most played CD since December 25!

Ian

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................
