Topic: OceanEFX Custom Pearl Drive

Hi all.  Just recieved my Custom OceanEFX Pearl Drive this week.  This pedal has been discussed on here so I thought I'd post a comment.

I got to try the prototype Pearl Drive over the summer.  Seriel number 0001.  This I think was the one Joe had for awhile.  Joe's comments were that he really liked it.  Don't know what happened after that.  I think he wanted a smaller casing for it.
Anyway, I tried it and loved it.  It had more gain and smoothness than a Zen Drive and worked amazingly well with my Fuchs ODS to fatten up a solo.  I contacted Corby and discussed modifying one so that the low end boost toggle could be footswitched in and out.  After much R&D and discussion we came up with the idea of combining the Pearl Drive and his Bullet Clean Boost Pedal into one.

The results are amazing.  The Pearl and the Clean Boost can be used together or seperately.  The Boost is pre Pearl so that it hits the Pearl circut harder.  It also has a potential 30Db boost on tap and it is totally transparent.  OR, there is gain, tone and level controls as well.  Perfect for fattening up and boosting a solo.

The Pearl side is warm and smooth.  Nails the D tone to a T.  Articulate and very touch sensitive...just like the Fuchs.

Sounds like a great pedal. I love the Texas Deuce with the boost.  I use the boost after a fulltone fulldrive to cut thru the mix. Of course I love the Overdrive of the TD also.

Its my primary lead pedal and if I take my small rig its the only overdrive pedal I bring... That and a Ocean Effects Vintage Echo.

Best pedals i've found yet.
