Topic: Southhampton

Three Blonde ladies, one Writer and two Artists, managed to get from the Isle of Sheppey to Southhampton and book into a Hotel (I hardly get out of my studio). I have never been to a concert and we were second to  front row, Joe was mesmerising...it was so loud! I realised I am 38 and I have got to get out more! I just loved it, Victoria.

Re: Southhampton

Welcome to the forum Victoria. What a way to start out going to concerts. All the rest will be anti-climatic after a Bonamassa gig. (unless it is another Bonamassa concert) Glad you had a good time with your friends. Rick

Welcome Victoria in the land of unlimited opportunities and amazement.
Guess you are a JB junkie now like the rest of us cool
Cool that you signed up for this forum, it's a great place with friendly people.

I realised I am 38 and I have got to get out more! lol, sounds like my life-story...

Check out the 'other artists'topic for good advice about who to see next when planning another concert (besides Joe of course wink), I've never been let down by the advice of my fellow forum-members.

Thankyou RickB, I am new to everything! I would certainly go and see him again. I recently missed out on seeing Deep Purple at the Hamersmith Apollo. Just could'nt get there...I have just asked Suzanne who to go and see, what would you suggest? X

I would defer to Suzanne or some of the posters from the UK. I am in San Diego, so my concert schedule wouldn't exactly be convenient to you. smile They constantly post to the Other Artist section with the latest hot acts to check out. Enjoy your new hobby. Live music is always a joy and you get to meet some very nice people while doing it. Rick

You've found a very friendly place here. Welcome from me. I've got to ask you as I was fascinated by your post. What was it that made you drive all that way to see Joe? Had you heard him on the radio and really like him or somethng like that? I'm so glad you did go to Southampton though for your first gig ( I was there too and met up with a few others from the forum) because it was a great show.

Did you know Joe was on at the Hammersmith Apollo on 28th May next year? There are still tickets available so do snap one up before they all go.

Again, welcome

David

Re: Southhampton

Yes Currymandavid is right! Joe in London is a must-see.

I live in the Netherlands so probably i'm not the one you should ask although i travel some countries to see a band.
Just posted my concert-list in another section,  i believe the topic is called: which show are you gonna see next, or something. Check some of the lists out in that topic, most of the gigs are in the UK i believe. Then look the artists up on youtube and if you like them surf the net for tourdates in your region.

My personal favourites are the new up and comers:
Aynsley Lister (you DEFENITELY have to go and see him), Eric Steckel, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Oli Brown
but also Mighty Orq, Dirty Sweat, Black Stone Cherry, etc.

Have fun and post some show reviews!

As you are on the Isle of Sheppy you should keep a close eye on the gigs that Pete Feenstra runs in South London and Kent. Just an hour or less in the car. He is showcasing a lot of the best new talent at the moment. Oli Brown, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Aynlsey Lister, Billy Walton and many more have been at his clubs of late. Check out his website. There is a lot going on just now and lots of great new artists to get into.

This Friday Larry Miller is at The New Anchor in Lewisham. Top guitar slinger.

If you look in 'Other Topics', there is a thread running now on up and coming gigs people are planning to see over the next couple of months. Could be a good source. There are a couple of guys in there from the London and surrounding areas.
For instance, 16th December, Jazz Cafe at Camden - Oli Brown (you gotta see him), JSTaylor and Virgil and the Accelerators all on the same bill. Top night out for Bluesrock chicks.

Just a thought

Re: Southhampton

Something I didn't ask is that I see nowhere on this thread just HOW you got into Joe. What was it that inspired you to go from IOS to Southampton (not the easiest of journey's I should think)?

I sense there is a story there to be told - and you haven't told it! First gig 'n all. SHARE!

We're nosey but don't bite and we like a good tale.

Re: Southhampton

Hi Victoria and welcome to the forum family of Joe.

I must say you certainly could not have picked a better first gig than a Joe one! You have set the bar very high for future gigs smile

There is a huge amount of young talent in the UK right now and the Other Artists section is a great place to discover artists new to you.

As everyone here knows I am a huge Oli Brown fan and I know he is playing a gig at the Brook in Southampton next tuesday the 15th.

Keep an eye out too for Joanne Shaw Taylor, Aynsley Lister, Matt Schofield, Virgil and the Accelerators, King King, Ian Siegal, Dani Wilde, Jay Tamkin to name but a few.

You could check out my You Tube channel .....I have one or two videos on there tongue

Including some of Joe from the Leeds gig last week.

Hi Victoria, and welcome! smile Could i ask, how did you come by Joe's music ? For me it was by chance.... Sloe Gin was playing on the radio, didn't know who the Artist was, never heard of Joe before, and then it all became clear!! I just wanted to know your intro into Joe, and his music.

Thanks smile
