Wrote a bit of a review and posted it on Davy & BDS's forum, but for those of you that aren't registered on that forum, I thought I'd at least copy the video and picture links here for you to view. I think they alone describe this fantastic night of music:

Saw Davey Knowles and Back Door Slam last night (Thanksgiving) for the first time. The show was in Baltimore at the Recher Theater. All I can say - AWESOME! I was blown away.

Nice pictures and videos Roy.  We saw BDS last Tuesday in Vermont.  It is amazing how much Davy has grown as a musician since last year.  Highlight for me was Cortez - I saw Davy play this (probably for the first time ever) with Warren Haynes and the Mule last year in Northampton, Ma - he obviously had never played this before (Jorgen kept whispering in his ear), but picked up on it soon enough - needless to say the results were stellar.  Now he had made the song his own.

Very rowdy crowd that night - including a very vocal group of girls who managed to get themselves up on stage to dance.  I'm not sure Davy and PK have recovered from this yet!  Here's a video (warning - not for the faint of heart and poor quality I wasn't familiar with the camera):

And here are my pictures:

If you get a chance to go see these guys please do.  Awesome musicians and all around great guys.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Very nice pictures Sandy and I would agree with you, their version of "Cortez The Killer" is just that, a Killer!! cool As far as the dancing ladies, I seem to remember one of Joe's DVDs with dancing ladies on it! wink

I especially like this picture that you took of Davy's newest PRS: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24057301@N … 764464909/

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what that one is worth? Hint: It's a lot!! yikes

Oh, and David, if you happen to meet someone in Atlanta by the name of Crickett, please say hello to her for me! smile

After seeing Davy BDS last week here in Atlanta, I must say it was by far the best show of the year for me if not the best of all time. His stage presence is great and his guitar playing is superb. The PRS guitar and Davy's skills just blew me away. I have his new DVD on order and it will go on the top shelf with my now growing JB collection.

I heard that was a very fine show David from a friend who was there. Actually, Davy has four PRS guitars now and I thought that I heard he might be getting one more. However, the last one that he received not too long ago is really a beauty. My understanding is that Paul Reed Smith had that guitar specially made and gave it to the young lad. I spoke with Davy about it and heard the cost of it. Yikes!! yikes He's very comfortable now on stage and there's much interation between him, PK and Steven. And remember, he's still only 22 years old. wink

Davy put on a great show in Chicago but thinking about it - I do find "Cortez the Killer" a rather odd sing-a long choice being what the subject matter is.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

As a matter of fact Rev. Paul, I heard a version of that song on the radio while on my way home last night with Gov't Mule performing it along with Dave Mathews. Quite a version with Warren Haynes and Dave Mathews sharing the vocals and of course, Warren's great guitar work.

As far as the subject matter is concerned, it is described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortez_the_Killer

Still, a very powerful song.
