Topic: Fender Noiseless Pickups

I have had the same Texas Specials in my Strat for 10 years, and I am getting tired of the noise and tone.  I played a buddy's strat with noiseless pickups and I loved the bite and punchy tone.  Fender makes them in the "Vintage", "Hot" and "Samarium Cobalt" varieties.  Does anybody have any recommendations on the best sounding noiseless pickup?

Re: Fender Noiseless Pickups

Had 2 sets of Vintage Noiseless and didn't care for them.  First off they don't sound like a classic strat but they do get rid of the hum.  They are Humbucking pickups to not single coil pickups.  They give you a 1 meg volume knob and 2 tone pots that are the same or lower I can't remember.  That was on the set I bought.  They didn't sound quacky enough.  The Eric Clapton Signature model I bought was the first year they put those into the guitar 2001.  Those pickups sounded good with the TBX switch it had I could make it bright enough to get the 50's sounding strat sounds.   It also came with a 25 db mid boost that made it loud as hell and very P.A.F. humbucker like.  It was very nice.

I'm not trying to sell GFS to anybody but they are damn good pickups for the money and they make a noiseless pickup too that I can speak for.  We put them in a Squire Telecaster and they sound great!  Here is a link. http://store.guitarfetish.com/coju20nepino.html

In the end I don't have those pickups in my old guitar I traded them in for GFS pickups which I love.  and the Eric Clapton Stratocaster I gave to my dad.  He traded it in for a Les Paul Traditional Pro and you can see my old guitar at the Mattews NC Guitar Center where they are asking the insain price of $1400 and listing it as mint.  BTW its not mint, I took very good care of it and it doesn't have a ding on it but I did fall down the steps to my basement one morning holding that guitar and threw it 20 feet for it to land pickguard down on a concrete floor.  I got a banged up knee and was so scared I broke my EC strat.  I kid you not, not even a scratch or ding in the guitar at all!  I couldn't walk down those steps to my guitar room for a month!  I don't care what Joe B says about them.  Fender guitar, can't bust em! - Quote AD3three
