Topic: Hello Everybody!

So here's the deal......

.....there I am, quietly playing my Hammond in a soul band, ( I never want to play Knock On Wood' again!!), when some guys ask me if I'd be interested in playing keys in a band specializing in the music of Joe Bonamassa.

Joe who..........??

You gotta realise that I'm a child of the sixties, Stax and Motown were King, progressed in to Steely Dan, blue eyed soul from the likes of Michael MacDonald et al - forget the Eighties!- from then on a mishmash of stuff - but The Blues? No. I'd had a brief flirtation with the British Soul Revival in the late Sixties/Seventies, but I didn't want to get involved with boring 12 bar, thank you very much! Somehow Joe just slipped below my radar.

So I auditioned for these guys because I didn't have anything else much to do. They gave me a CD. I looked on the website. Heard 'Stop'. Saw the RAH concert. Instant conversion!!

I just love it. We play other stuff, ZZTop, Free, etc, but I'm just waiting to get my hands on the Bonamassa tracks in the set! This stuff is just made for Hammond/Leslie, which is my love.

So thank you Joe, and the guys that asked me to join. I hope we do it justice.

Re: Hello Everybody!

Hi Simon

Welcome to the forum.  That's a pretty neat introduction to Joe and another instantaneous convert!  Apart from the DVD have you seen Joe in concert or are you planning to go to any upcoming ones?

So what's the band's name, where do you come from, are you doing gigs?  We women are programmed to ask questions!

Re: Hello Everybody!

Hi Lyn,
Thanks for the welcome!

The band is called White Room , (with a nod to the great EC!), based around Chippenham in Wiltshire. See www.whiteroomrocks.co.uk  Started covering traditional Blues greats but now three quarters of our set is JB.

Funnily enough, I have today bought tickets for the BIC concert in May 2010, so I'll be down your way. It would be good to gig in your area around that time!

If you're ever up our way, check out the gig page and drop in.

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,
We are already familiar with White Room. Dick is a member of this forum, calls himself Crossroads if I'm not mistaken.
I'm happy that you are loving Joe's music.

All the best....Tripsy smile

That's very funny. I'm not allowed to put Richard's shortened name in print!! lol

Re: Hello Everybody!

That's right, Tripsy, 'crossroads' is on here somewhere. Don't know if he knows I'm on here too!

Re: Hello Everybody!

I've got you chalked up as another Bonamassa convert, Simon.

More missionary work, one less of them, one more of us.
