Re: Where would it be?

Hmmm, that's a good question Sheddy, makes me think. You know, before going to England and France this past year, I would have said some tropical island. But now, I could see living in London for a year. When I was there, I just felt very much at home. Not really sure why, but that city has so many things going on and so many things to see, I'm not sure a year would be enough time. If not there, then I would love to stay in Scotland or Ireland to play as many Golf courses there as I could. To be able to play tree-less seaside links would be a dream come true. smile

Re: Where would it be?

When I read this thread last night I thought to myself, Shreddy, you were there in May this year, then I look now and see Roy's beaten me to it. wink

Some of the best music venues anywhere where you can see quality artists every night of the week, some great sport including the NFL at Wembley stadium last night with Tampa Bay Bucaneers v New England Patriots, an amazing variety of food from all over the world and weather that's never too hot or too cold. Yes, London has it all. smile

No, I don't work for the London Tourist Office. roll

Re: Where would it be?

I think, I wouldn´t stay somewhere for one year, but travel. Going to Istanbul, from there to the Turkish South West coast, to Capadocia, and then right over to India, maybe to Kerala, exploring the backwaters by boat and enjoying the beaches, then over to Tamil Nadu to hang around all these Southern temples. Having had enough heat, up to Kathmandu - my second home anyhow- and Tibet for finally visiting the holy mountain Kailash. Would maybe go on to Burma, if they would have chased away the fascists finally, or to Bangkok, staying for some time on a little Thai island.
Exploring once more Angkor Wat in Cambodia, taking a boat down to Saigon, up to Hanoi and then right into China: travelling around and especially visiting the Taoist mountains. The highlight of Japan would be a tour of these famous rural guesthouses, soaking in hot bath and having superb Japanese food after. And then I´d go to the States, this time a bit longer than two weeks,
see the land and listen to a lot of good music.
And on the way home I would surely stay a week or two in London.

then The Orient Express train to ROME for a few days of sights and real Italian food and drink, after fly down to SANTORINI for some mind cleansing then move on down to DUBAI and stay in the only 7* Hotel on the planet (The Burj al Arab, Stunning) after catch a flight to KENYA for a safari to watch the Big Cats and stay in Tree Houses, then fly out to THE SEYCHELLES and stay at NORTH ISLAND (Truly Robinson Crusoe Time) after make my way out to THE MALDIVES
and (The Hilton Maldives) where i spent my 40th, if you're searching for paradise, it's here
and the worlds only underwater ocean restaurant, then fly to THAILAND and the resort of RAYAVADEE on KRABI this looks like paradise #2 then visits to HONG KONG & TOKYO and then a boat to KOMODO ISLAND to see the Komodo Dragons, then onto AUSTRALIA and catch all the sights there, that looks like a week or 2, then NEW ZEALAND and try the powerboat ride around Queenstown on South Island, then over to BORA BORA for a week, stopping off in TAHITI & HAWAII before flying to LA (for a Harley Davidson  ride across USA) and savour all the glitz/nightlife and malibu, then to LAS VEGAS and GRAND CANYON (lifetime dream smile ) and LAKE TAHOE (i hear is beautiful too) up thru MEMPHIS/NASHVILLE and CHICAGO and onto NEW YORK
then have a week in the big apple, then fly to ALASKA for dog sledding/and whale watching then to THE NORTH POLE by helicopter and stay in an igloo, then fly way down to the CARIBBEAN and PALM ISLAND for last bit of Luxury then head home for some down time
