Topic: Des Moines IA

This is the first time I had seen Joe and band live and definitely won't be the last, this guy smokes! Lotta SOUL! Show started promptly at 8pm, no opening band.  Sound mix, lights and band were great.

Disclaimer:  Yes, this is a chick-friendly event.

For those that smoke (like myself) don't assume it's a good time to step out for a smoke when the acoustic guitar comes out.  WRONG, get your @ss back to your seat!

Re: Des Moines IA

I posted this under the general thread topic, but it was so dang good, it bears repeating !

The Man Himself  cool  and The Joe Band literally brought the the house down at Hoyt Sherman!   The show was beyond rockin', beyond smokin'..........Joe had the thrusters on high and definitely jettisoned us into another galaxy......never heard Woke Up Dreaming played with such fervor and variation.......crowd of 1100 literally right in the palms of his talented hands. Joe said afterwards that he even surprised himself!   And Joe looked wonderful, happy & fit!!!  I don't know what else to say at this point, gotta' get my feet back on the ground and without a doubt Des Moines, IA absolutely, positively loved Joe Bonamassa!  Those of you who have Joe coming to a town or city near you, put your seat belts on & hang on for the Joe-ride of your life.  You know how we say  we think he & the band can't get any better......well, they have stepped it all up another notch, or two, or three, or............................. smile  Thanks so much Joe for coming to Des Moines.  I'll miss you greatly until next time................

                                                                                       As always,
                                                                                       pattyluvs cool

P.S.  My Mom (80 yrs old, first show)  loved Joe and she was tickled to get to meet him and talk with him afterwards!  She also enjoyed chatting with Clancy, Bogie, Rick & Carmine!!  The other Bonavirgins in my posse all understand now what the "Joe thing" is about!  Had a great time seeing Iowa Bonabuddies, finally met "the dude"  (very nice dude) and the Joe travelers Lee & Renee & Rhonda....their motto's should be "Have Joe-Show Will Travel" that's all for now...gotta get around for a couple of show for WICKED...hey, there's a description for last nights show....It was WICKED!    tongue

Re: Des Moines IA

The set was not the same as Wichita. One extra song and a change in the order.

Sorry for that previous bit of misinformation. I scribbled the set list during the show, but lost it so I was going by memory. The set did include an extra song that started with a "Y" and was somewhere mid-set.

Re: Des Moines IA

Welcome Whitebread, thanks for the post about your Bonabaptism.  Patty..Sorry I missed your call...I'm guessing it's "Your Funeral My Trial" and requesting that it, plus the electric "If Heartaches..." remain in the set for the Carre. It's really exciting to be getting show reviews again as well as to hear about the changes!! Keeps us on our toes!   Cathy

Re: Des Moines IA

My Mom is already talking about the next time she sees Joe.  She thought Joe, Bogie, Rick, Carmine, & Clancy were very nice young men.  wink   She said, "It took me 80 years to get to a rock concert and I'm glad it was Joe."   So her Bonabaptism was great!  Also, my buddies Bonabaptism's were a big success ,too....."we understand now Patty  wink

Still in awe of Joe's awesomeness in Iowa

Re: Des Moines IA

I am SO intrigued! Patty that is incredible and wonderful news, but really no news in the end, except they actually "get it" now.  The epiphany...

But as an aside, was your mother like, an anti-rock, anti-blues type? She wasn't just coming out of her shell because Al Martino passed away last week (rest his soul in peace, a crooner yes but I'd lie to say I wasn't a fan-no apologies) was she???  Just kidding...

Regardless, daughter gets credit for not being nuts, only in luvwithjoehismusicandhishair

That setlist is intriguing to say the least, and Joe & the rest of the guys keep reelin' 'em in as keepers.
