Topic: Hello

Hello all. I know that I'm waaaaaaaaaay late to the party, but I just discovered this artist while I was poking around You Tube. I'm hooked:P

My question is this, as a new fan, what 1, 2 or 3 CD's would you consider a "must have" to start my collection?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome first of all. Better late than never as they say. As to your question, you will get a hundred different answers (maybe), depending on our individual tastes. Earlier fans will cite some of the earlier releases and latecomers some of the more recent recordings.

Fact is, you'r e gonna have to buy 'em all! My first purchase of Joe's was 'You and Me' so I am a relative latecomer. But I suspect most fans would agree that 'Live - from Nowhere in Particular' should feature somewhere in that 1,2, 3 list.

For me it is one of the best sounding live recordings I have ever heard, and the playing ain't bad either wink

I also love 'Blues Deluxe' and 'Sloe Gin'. I suppose though LFNIP really showcases the magnificence of his performing. It is jaw dropping stunning. Simple as that.

That said I am waiting for my Royal Albert Hall DVD as I write- so who knows? This will probably be the new 'best'.

Whatever you go for.........enjoy........it's genius at work.

Re: Hello

Hey, thanks for the info. Time to shop Amazon huh?

Thanks again.

Re: Hello

Yeah I would say smile

Still at least with the download function Amazon is less financially painful these days, especially if you need to do a lot of shopping...........and it looks like you do. you can even download the covers these days. There is a link on here somewhere in 'General'.

Come back and let us know what you think. You will need to get to a show. Fortunately, JB is a prolific tourer so there's bound to be a show near you somewhere soon. But be warned - take a friend as you need help to put your jaw back after it hits the floor wink

lol, I believe ya' Geoff.

My collection includes artists all the way back to Hound Dog Taylor. Like everyone else here I love the blues and when I saw "Joe" on You Tube, I damn near popped the speakers on my Mac.

Re: Hello

Welcome to the forum Gwog.
My first Joe cd was Blues Deluxe and it hooked me straight away. From there I just bought everything. So, wherever you start it doesn't matter because it's all brilliant!

I Tripsy and thank you for the welcome.

I know exactly what you're saying because a quick look at my CD collection, tells me that many unknown artists "to me", quickly found more and more of their CD's in my home.

"Me thinks" that I've found another one!

Re: Hello

Blues Deluxe and LFNIP are on order!!!!!!!

Thanks for replies all.:D

Re: Hello

Well suffice to say...........I'm hooked! But I'm guessing all of you here knew that this would happen!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the info and now it's off to Amazon to do a little bit more shopping.

I can see why.

What's funny is how and why I missed him. I guess my collection had gotten so big, expensive yikes, but that's only because I've been collecting for waht seems like forever, that I sorta stopped looking for new artists. I play my music and enjoy it. Sometimes I'll go to the waaaay back stuff and it's all new again. But this guy....damn.

To me, it's like he's taken everything I've ever heard, anyone I've ever admired and brushed them off and said, "gee, if they only had dome it this way."

Incredible.

Re: Hello

Hi gwog - welcome aboard!

Joe blew me away just the same way - I'm sure it won't be long before you've got the whole back catalogue. And don't forget to check out the "Other Artists" section of the forum. There's probably a few other blues guys you've been missing out on recently that get a mention in there. Gotta keep the Blues alive!

Re: Hello

Hi Icon. Thanks for the welcome.

I will be looking at "Other Artists". If there's another Joe there, I may go broke!!!!!:P
