Topic: Gov't Mule recommendation...........

I bought the Deep End 1 & 2  discs recently, and while I like them for the most part, some songs just don't grab me. What album would you suggest is their most 'rock' album. By that I mean in a sort of classic rock/blues style that is not overly jammy, or has too many weird bits. Something along the lines of Skynyrd/heavy blues styles.

I love Warren Haynes voice and guitar style.

Cheers,

Grey

Dose is probably the closest thing you'll find to a straight up rock and/or blues-rock recording by Mule. Live at Roseland is my favorite Mule recording (and it rocks) but if you don't like "Jammy" stuff it might not be your cup-o-tea.

Re: Gov't Mule recommendation...........

Grey,

I agree with Stu. Dose is a great album and is in constant rotation in my cd player. It rocks. Live at Roseland is also worth acquiring, not to mention they have "Mule Tracks" (recordings of live shows) available from their website at a cost.

My nephew turned me onto Dose as my first Mule recording. Well worth it. Just don't know why I waited so long to get it.

Enjoy!

Re: Gov't Mule recommendation...........

Thanks guys I will check that one out, as well as the Live At Roselands.

Re: Gov't Mule recommendation...........

their live shows are their bread and butter, and if you don't like jammy you probably won't like the band.  i love the band and i'd call none of the albums great

I couldn't agree more suhl.  I have found just about any blues/blues-rock artist best albums are live albums. There is one thing they can't do in the studio that they can live ... jam!

I own them all, and I would say that my favorite and the "most rocking" is Life Before Insanity.

You can try their new album "By a thread": amazon has some samples which sound very good. It should be published next week, but I´ll wait to 11/11 when we see them live in München- hopefully with a lot of jamming.
