Yes, the very nice man from DHL came-a-calling today with a little package. 'God & Guns' and some DVD by that Bonamassa fella.
But lets talk Skynyrd. I'm not gonna lie to ya, as I haven't followed them for a while. Didn't catch them on their last Eurotour either. Classic Rock mag put 'Still Unbroken' on one of their sampler CD's last month and it blew my socks off. I thought if the rest of the album could be that good I would have to have it.
So here it is, gatefold CD with a bonus disc all for 10 quid. Am I pleased or what? This album is excellent. Well written, well played, well produced and well good. At just over 3minutes 'Simple Life' was made for radio airplay. Can some of our US fans tell me if this was a massive hit? If not, why not?
Really, I can't find any fault with this album. Yes, there is some slight political angles to a couple of the songs, but if these guys haven't earned the right to air their views who has?
I can't wait to try this in the car. Some great driving music on there and live its going to be just enormous. Skynyrd Nation will bring the house down and God and Guns combines swamp and stadium rock. I love it.
Some could have dismissed this as 'who needs to hear a new Lynyrd Skynyrd album?' - well, they will be missing a trick. This is a band that IS still unbroken and long may they remain so.
ps - as soon as I played that sampler track to my bandmates it was 'we gotta do that' such was the impact. We're hoping to roll it out on Saturday week and turn a little corner of Niedersachsen into Skynyrd Nation.
Buy this album. It rocks
