Re: King of the Blues competition updates...

Eating Taco Bell is something you should avoid. If you're going to eat Taco Bell, you might as well buy it and flush it down the toilet. It's roughly the same thing. smile

Listen JUST because there's roughly a 130% chance of you being wildly thrown out of the Regularity Train doesn't mean it's that bad for you.

I remember one time I ate it at midnight and fell asleep about 30 minutes later. NEVER AGAIN.

Wow, this has to be one of the most interesting threads on the JB forum!  It started out as a hopeful thing, then a big bummer, and ended up in the toilet...literally.  I actually laughed out loud a few times at some of the comments.  You guys are off the proverbial chiz-ain.

I really don't get the idea of a 'guitar competition' - this is an art form, not a sport. If John lee Hooker had entered that competition, do you think he would've won? If Joe and Robben Ford had entered, one of them would've lost to the other. The whole thing is ridiculous and should be avoided at all costs IMO. - it's like Van Gogh and Rembrandt having a 'paint-off' at the local craft store!!!! Go and get a copy of Zen Guitar by Phillip Sudo - it'll make you feel a lot better about playing by focusing you on why you're playing in the first place.

Very well put! You've posted my thoughts exactly, but better than I could have. smile
I've heard about that book, and think I will have to read it.

Re: King of the Blues competition updates...

Well said!  Besides it would be a draw between those 2 guys so they'd call in Eric Clapton to kick all their **** in blues guitar just to be out done by Buddy Guy and his crazyness, all of a sudden he bring john Mayer to play a few SRV lick to wow the female audience.  After all the fun is over (or so we think) SRV comes back from the dead and kicks everybodies **** for stealing his guitar licks (KWS, Johnny Lang, and a million other Statocaster players) after Stevie dominates everybody he decides he's going to bring out the all star heaven band with Duane Allman on slide, Jimi on 2nd lead guitar, and Freddie King too!  When all the living guitar plays bow down in defeat Joe Bonamass comes in with a Les Paul and joins in and everybody wonders where in the Hell is Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes?  They had other comitments and couldn't make it.  In the end everybody wins because everyone knows you don't have to be the best one but be a good one adds billy gibbons.  And they all lived happily ever after.  The End.
