Topic: Hi from Long Island

Hello to all, I'm a fairly new fan of Joe Bonamassa, just a few months now.....I'm embarrassed to admit sad.  Back in my High School days (so now I'm dating myself) I was in a band and a guitar player.  At my wedding, I played (just one song) to the amazement of some of my family.  Haven't played much since then, 1981, but still have my guitar.  It's a 1969 Gibson SG custom, and even though I don't play much, it's in pretty good shape.  Currently it's on loan to a friend's son, who plays, and can at least play on a good one.  My musical taste is wide, but if I had to narrow it down, it would be rock & blues.  Growing up, the Beatles were an early favorite.  Cream was the ultimate for me, and Eric Clapton could do no wrong.  Loved Stevie Ray Vaughn and then Kenny Wayne Sheppard.  Saw a concert, on TV, of Joe Satriani, and couldn't believe what he was able to do technically, but sadly I didn't care for the music.  Then one day at work, discussing that fact with my boss, he said to try Joe Bonamassa.  I was lent the Rock Palast DVD and was hooked.  The quality of the sound as well at the song selection was perfect for me, and so I became a fan.  My biggest regret so far is that I was not able to see Joe when he appeared in New Jersey (a bit over an hour away) on Aug 12th.  I'm going to rectify that in April '10 when Joe plays NYC, I've already announced to the wife that I'm going (Sadly, my wife is not into Blues that much so will not be joining me).  Can't wait for the RAH DVD to arrive next month, I'd like to think I one of the first to order it once the e-mail notification came out.  Looking froward to enjoying the forum.

Regards to all

Marv

Can't believe no one had time to reply to you guys yet. Welcome anyway, better late than never.

Great forum this. Post often. There's lots to say and we want to hear your views.

Important when you see Joe for the first time that write about it. We never tire of hearing someone's jawdrop moment.

Hi Marv

Welcome to this forum.
Sounds like you are going to like it here.
You have one of the best pleasures in the world still to experience. You are going to really enjoy your April evening. cool

Shame about your wifes taste difference because you are going to be so amazed by what you see and hear that you are going to want to talk about it all night.

Mike's right about the jaw dropping.
Make sure you tell us what it was like (I think most of us know but we still like to hear).
