Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

Gov't Mule is awesome.  High and Mighty wasn't the most inspiring work but it still had 4 real standout tracks.  I loved Deja Voodoo, as well as the rest of their catalog.

Live...is something else entirely.  Never know what your going to hear but its always a great show.  I saw them play 'War Pigs' once and it blew me away!

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

The Mule Rocked!!  Great show!! It was a really fun evening!  Hotter than blazes and 100% humidity...Warren said he didn't think Iowa could get so hot.....excellent guitar playing......lots of slide......very gracious to the crowd that was wild.....lots of grins from Warren....awesome drum solo from Matt.....then the rain came........right before Soulshine & Simple Man.....with apologies couldn't finish out the 2nd set, getting shocks.....talked with Warren afterwards about Joe..."Oh yeah, I know Joe, great guy and guitarist.  We go back a ways."  Scored an autographed pick (beautiful mother of pearl colors) , autograph on a dollar bill, and a picture with Warren.  Had a good time talking to Brian Farmer, Warren's tech before the show.  It was good to get out and be stress free.

Very nice pictures and report Patty!! Man, you do look a little warm in the picture of You and Warren! smile

Joe is the Best!

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

Roy, it was unbelievably sweltering out.   Hydration was a must. Sweat it out as fast as you could put it in.  Everyone in the crowd looked the same.....drenched.      One thing I just remembered was Warren played his guitar against the mike stand....sounded really cool.

It's amazing the "ease" that guitarists play their instruments.  So effortless....yet so powerful.

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

The last time I saw Mule was a few years back at Belle Chere here in Asheville. They were just getting back from over seas and MAN did they rock. One of the best versions of 32/20 blues I have ever heard with him and Mike Barns. Been a big fan since a kid. And to make a comment about their covers: I think their versions of some songs are better than the original recordings of other bands (War Pigs being one of the best versions of all time!!). I'd definitely recommend these guys to anyone who hasn't seen them yet.

By the way, has anyone heard any of the new stuff from their new album yet? I'm curious to see how the new bassist sounds.

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

I just discovered their music about a month ago and have yet to purchase an album.  But when i do get some money saved up it won't just be for one of them!

I have watched numerous videos on YouTube and they are ridiculously good.  Can't wait to get ahold of their albums.

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

I came across an unofficial fan site for European Mule fans :

http://www.euromule.co.uk/

According to the site the last Mule tour of Europe was in June/July 2007 but they played only one UK gig (in London).

I've checked on the official Mule site and there's no dates flagged up for Europe although the above fan site quotes Warren Haynes from last January as saying there will be a Europe tour in summer 09. Obviously that has not happened and north American dates are showing to at least the end of October.

I'll be keeping a lookout on the official site. In the mean time the new album "By A Thread" is due to be released on 27th October so that'll do for now cool

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

I know that they occasionally toured Europe in the past but the opportunities to see them were and still are few and far between. I never had the chance myself. At least there's a new album to look forward to.

Re: Govt. Mule anybody???

it goes both ways.  \there are european bands i'd like to see that actually NEVER come to america.  mule occasionally play europe, but mainly stick where their bigger fanbase is.
