Topic: Hot August Blues Festival in Maryland-08/15/09
I was almost not able to attend this, but wow am I glad I did not miss it. It was Hot as the name says and the festival was outside at a local park in Baltimore. Joe was supposed to come on at 6 pm and started at 520. Thank got I was already there and close enough to notice, but I noticed some others were a little upset by this. I have seen Joe 2 other times and never in this outdoor setting. He was on top of his game and sounded incredible. He used 7 different guitars and played quite a bit on his signature Les Paul. He also played a flying V and this was the first time I saw him with one of those. He was cordless the entire time and responding to the crowd. He walked around quite a bit in the grassy area in front of the stage. I brought a friend who was not too familiar with him and he was instantly in awe. Every song sounded fantastic and his guitar playing was from subtle and melodic to ferocious and in you face. He was a real professional and a class act.
The song list seemed to somewhat follow the show he did not he 13th in I believe New Hampshire. If there was one complaint I just wanted to hear Asking Around for You and A New Day Yesterday. Of course that is only MY opinion, and I know he can only do so many
songs.
Overall an incredible show and an absolute 10.
