Topic: Ryan McGarvey in studio

I don't know if I'm late on this, but Ryan's facebook says that he is going into the studio now. I can't wait for this one!

Re: Ryan McGarvey in studio

I was on Facebook the other night and I actually had a short conversation with Ryan. He was in a hotel in Lubbock waiting for gig time. He said the new album would be out in early summer and he also told me that he is coming to the UK towards the end of the year. I look forward to that!

Re: Ryan McGarvey in studio

Don't quote me on this, but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet this will be one of the songs on Ryan's upcoming album :

I'll say it once again. If you dig the first one, the second is going to blow you away hmm

Re: Ryan McGarvey in studio

Ryan's one of brightest stars out there , his first cd was really awesome Rock/Blues and went pretty much unnoticed , i don't know how because it is a terrific album , should have gathered much more accolades

Can't wait for his 2nd release , could be one of the musical highlights of 2009 for sure

Thanks for the heads up Keith.  Sounds eerily like "So Many Roads" tho...
Saw Ryan as a "maybe" for the Aynsley Lister show at Dingwalls - that would be great if he makes it.

Major Tom to ground control...

Not only does the song sound just like "So Many Roads", but the guitar playing, guitar sound, and singing style sounds like a poor JB imitation to me.

Yes Ryan is a fan of Aynsley, and lists him amongst his influences. There's a few other interesting maybe's on that list too...

Thanks for the song Keith. I'm looking forward to hearing the new album. I'm surprised a label like Provogue has not snapped up Ryan for European distribution rights, as currently he does not have a label of here.

Don't care for it really. He used to have his own sound. Which was fantastic I might add.

Re: Ryan McGarvey in studio

I'm resurrecting this old thread just to say thanks to people on this board for making me aware of Ryan McGarvey. Because of discussions here, I've been looking for over a year for a chance to hear him live. Finally got that chance last night in Boulder and it was fantastic. He played several things from the upcoming CD. It crossed my mind to try to find out when it was coming out, but then that thought kept on crossing and left mind altogether by the time the show was over. He had a new bass player with him, sounded good.

Anyway, thanks again. This place is a great place to find more blues. I mentioned to McGarvey that I read about him here - he seemed pleased and had some very nice things to say about Joe. The new stuff was good, can't wait for the album.

Re: Ryan McGarvey in studio

I just saw him today. I absolutely was blown away. I'll post again when I have words.

I totally agree Michael and I too, am one person waiting for Ryan's new CD. Also, I have not seen Ryan perform and thus, haven't had a chance to meet him. However, I do know someone who has met him and I take it, that they are fairly good friends. Davy Knowles and I were trading stories one time and he told me a story about Ryan. His words I believe were, "and Ryan is just the sweetest person". If you've ever met Davy, you know how sweet he is and to have him pay Ryan that compliment goes a long way in my book. It's pretty obvious by his music, that he too is an absolute fantastic guitar player. I hope one day he comes north so I can see him too! smile

And again, thanks to Keith for turning many of us to Ryan. When Keith said buy his album, I did and it's been one of the best suggestions I ever got. cool
