Re: RIP Michael Jackson

of course i would.  then again, i wouldn't admit to being naked in a bed with children (because i wouldn't be naked in bed with naked children).

The legal system is flawed to favor the rich.  It needs to be fixed.  I shouldn't just accept it because it is that way.

There is no conceivable situation where you are naked in bed with any other person if nothing sexual has taken place between you two or however many there may be.  none.  Certainly not with other people's children.  This is a classic people believe what they want scenario.  "Honey, I know I'm naked in bed with your best friend, but it was totally platonic." I am not saying you deezer said he did or didn't do anything, but the fact that a pedo can buy his way out of jail sickens me.

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

I'm not questioning you, but where was it proven that he was naked in bed with children? I just thought they shared the same bed, which is not much better anyway. Can you point me out to where this information is?

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

This is strictly my take on Michael and I don't intend to debate it with anyone, but no matter how much of a musical genius he may be the molestation issues far outweigh every thing else. As the old adage goes, one aw $h*t wipes out all your atta boys. He was very fortunate he could buy his way out of his legal problems because molesters don't usually last long in prison. Really a shame the way it all worked out in the long run. Just for the record I thoroughly enjoyed and own Off The Wall & Thriller, on vinyl of course.

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

hey deezer, i will get back to you on that one.  i am nearly positive he admitted to doing it but said it was totally innocent, but i can understand wanting some verification.  so i have to go to class now but i will find it later

edit: actually i don't feel like going to the trouble.  for the purposes of this i thread i'll say i'm wrong since i am not proving myself, but for my own purposes i know i have seen it somewhere reliable before this.  anyone who wants to look it up can do so themselves.  I'm a lazy YOUCANTSAYTHATHERE

The number one problem with our system.  Essentially a caste system without the red dots!

Think OJ, Robert Blake etc.

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

When I heard of Michaels death, it came as no surprise, I felt no emotion....thinking about it in depth, I guess I saw him almost as a comic book character, who was so screwed up from whatever happened to him in his life, his early passing was all part of the story...I have a friend who says he has tickets to todays funeral in Los Angeles....I wouldnt pay him the respect that so many have, his crimes outweigh any of his contributions to music...buts thats just me

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

Over the holiday weekend, I had a few conversations about Michael Jackson with someone that had the spare time to read up on some of the early accusations against Michael.  Previously, I may have thought it was likely that he was guilty, now I think its more likely he was wrongly accused and I'm not convinced he was a child molester.  Not that this is proof of innocence, but he didn't fit the profile of a serial pedophile.  I think alot of judgments were made against him because of the freak persona he took on in his later years and his love of young children and the whole Neverland thing. Like jdawg, not looking for a debate, just think MJ was misunderstood.  He was a talented and tortured soul in many ways.

I use to be work friends with a woman whose aunt made her living suing people.  One day at work she told me about how her aunt had just won a huge settlement for a trip and fall accident outside of a ritzy department store, Saks Fifth Avenue.  After hearing some of the facts on Michael's initial child molestation charges, it reminded me of this story and how people prey on those with big wallets.

Also, tons of innocent people settle legal matters out of court, it doesn't mean you're guilty and it is not an admission of guilt because you settle and chose not to go and battle it out in court.  Of all the high profile court dramas, I do think OJ got away with murder.

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

Angela,  you put into words exactly the way I feel about Michael Jackson. Bad judgement and strange actions for sure, but that certainly does not make him a pedophile.  I do believe he made himself an easy target because of his love for children. A quick way to make some money for people with no conscience.

Just heard about another law suit against Burger King.  Someone spilled hot coffee on themself and blames Burger King because it was too hot.  McDonalds has already been through this same type of lawsuit. It's HOT coffee people!!!  That's what you ordered!!! Don't blame BK because you're clumsy.  Give me a break. roll

And I find it disturbing that  Congressman Pete King feels that it's his job to publicly speak out calling Michael Jackson a "low life" and a "child molester" when he has no clue what he's talking about. Abuse of power?  Yes, I think so. mad Especially at this particular time knowing what his family and children are going through. What a boob!!!

And you know what else?  Maybe the media attention is a bit over the top, but Michael Jackson WAS huge.  Like it or not, he was an American Icon and he was loved by millions.  Not to mention his world wide humanitarian actions and major money contributions to various charities.

I'm not looking for a debate either, but I think BJJ said it best ...

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

Just to add a little separate thought without getting all religious......Many years ago a great man walked this planet; many say he was the Son of God. One thing that was reported that he said was, "Those of you who are without sin, cast the first stone." When we think of saying something not very nice about someone whether they be celebrity, neighbor or foe, we should consider those words first. hmm

I obviously made a few angry...I cant take back what I put down here for all to read.....your right. he was never convicted of any crime....I guess my concern from the begginning was the children, what I heard of all the events during Michael last few years really bothered me for very personal reasons....anyhow, may he rest with gods blessing

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

Susan-I could start a whole thread on how absurd I think frivilous lawsuits are... yikes they drive the costs of everything up for everyone else.  It is so out of control!

Jane-my reference to a typical profile is from a pschy/medical professional's perspective who made a statement/diagnosis about allegations against MJ.

BJJ-thanks for the link.  The sweetest little girl ever; I hope the 3 children end up OK.  My mom watches way more tv than me, she saw a lot of Michael coverage and she was impressed at what a very good dad he was.

Shred-I'm not angry, just in case you were wondering. wink When MJ was going through all the legal processes, honestly, I didn't take the time to analyze it, but I thought some of his behavior was just so bizarre...I just kinda' stopped following him when things got weird, now I feel a little guilty if I rushed to judgment.  It repulses me to think of child molestation and cuts a little deeper toward nausea when you envision your own kid being a victim of something so horrible.  I live in NJ and listened daily on the news to the whole drama of poor little Megan Kanka.  Megan's Law (against sex-offenders) originated in NJ because of her.  I've searched the site a few times myself to see if any sex offenders have moved in close to me.  I feel the same way, may Michael Jackson RIP....literally...physically...spiritually...all the way around.  Also, I was annoyed when MJ treated Sir Paul wrong...we all make mistakes.

2 songs for MJ -

And back to an earlier post, someone had mentioned how Farrah Fawcett meant more to them...my brother had the poster of her on his wall.  In a similar line of thinking my 2 sons were way more upset about the passing of pitchman, Billie Mays, than MJ. (the oxyclean infomercial dude also on ESPN recently)  Farrah really took a back burner when MJ died, it is amazing how much it dominated the airwaves.

Well I guess if we use BJJ's argument we can also say I guess BJJ's God will be the judge.

I have always given him (MJ) the benefit of the doubt for many of the reasons otherwise mentioned in this thread, because you can't have justice otherwise.

It is my opinion though that I seriously doubt there is some sort of 'standard' profile of a pedophile, serial or not. Most abuse is not even known by anyone other than the victim and the perpertrator.

MJ's circumstances probably made anything he did look questionable.

I hope we all though take away from the issue a commitment to protect our children and others vulnerable to abuse, as well as those falsely accused. The victims. Most of which are helpless in their plight.

Exactly. God will judge us all, which is why I shall not judge here, for I am not God.

Re: RIP Michael Jackson

Reading all these posts about Michael Jackson has been quite interesting.  Truthfully I've never actually bought any of his albums - my wife had Off the Wall and Thriller before we married.  Most of my exposure came via radio and video (MTV) and without a doubt he was the biggest entertainer since Elvis.
What always troubled me was his obsession with cosmetic surgery.  He should've quit after the first couple of nose jobs and what the freak did he do to his skin color?  Bizzare barely scratches the surface to describe what obviously was a tortured soul.  When the flags started going up like an Olympic opening ceremony, I admit I rushed to judgement regarding his guilt.  It was so easy because as a middle-aged man, his Peter Pan persona with young children was just plain outrageous.  But as others have pointed out he was never convicted of anything and yes God uftimately will be his judge.  Personally, I'm now in the camp of he was a victim of litigious predators.
