A mega-talent, and although the word has been overused, he was a cultural icon and the king of pop. I was never able to shake the sense of sadness I felt for him after he started carving on his face. What a drag it must have been to be so famous and yet so uncomfortable in your own skin. He ended up looking hideous…but was such a cute kid. My daughters were absolutely crazy about him in his “Thriller” days.

It would be easy to praddle on about the suspected child molestation incidents et al, but right about now he’s receiving judgement from someone or something who knows the whole truth – and who’s position on the matter is of greater significance than anything I might think or say.

It will be interesting to watch the made-for-tv movies to follow.

This is what Elvis's death would have been like if it were in the age of the 24 hour news networks.

Michael Jackson was an amazing performer, an amazing singer, an amazing dancer. It truly saddens me that what happened to him offstage eclipsed what happened on it. You could tell he was a tortured individual who had a lot of demons. I really do hope he's finally at peace, and that like Elvis, we will look at his musical accomplishments and say WOW. Often the most brilliant minds are often the most tortured, and in our society we can't stand it when superstars have flaws like we do.

Michael Jackson was a HUGE talent.  I spent a lot of time on the dance floor in the early 80's dancing to Michael's music...thanks for the music Michael RIP.  I felt sorry for him later on and God only knows what his life was really like, it certainly had its twists and turns.

He was a huge talent, but what Michael Jackson really lacked was some good friends. You know the type; the ones that can tell you when you're way over the line. I'm afraid after having an abusive father, he surrounded himself with nothing but "Yes" people. That I'm sure fed some of his unusual tendencies. Still, I can only hope that he did more good for the world than bad; I say RIP now Michael Jackson.

Sure he was an amazing all that, but i don't see the rest of it exactly how you do. I sure didn't have flaws like him (and i am not great at things that he was also).....not that I don't have flaws...its just that the way you said that kinda irks me. I'm not wanting to bash him (or tell tasteless jokes, Joe doesn't want to hear them and I am not like that anyway) I'm not going to pass judgement on the unknown, and I can't imagine what it must have been like for him yet at the same time, much of it he brought on himself and he acted as if he was above the law. That isn't society's fault IMO.

I think you're overanalyzing. The child molestation thing aside, it was way more than that that he got ridiculed for. Plastic surgery, Bubbles, and whatnot. Long before the child stuff came up, he was famous to the point where he could not even walk out his own door. He basically shut himself off from the world. And when he could trust no one, I guess he turned to children. According to him, adults were always after him for something, but children were not. Whether that is true or not, I do not know. Maybe that idea had an innocent beginning that turned terrible and corrupted later on. I don't know. I really don't know. But I really think that what happened to Michael Jackson is just a really sad tale of what can happen to a child star when pushed too far.

If my opinion irks, it irks you. So be it. But that is my opinion. I get irked by plenty of people's opinions, but oh well.

It might surprise you, but it was exactly the same for Elvis Presley's death.  A lot less repeating the same thing over and over like the internet and "24 hour news networks" do.  Plus tabloids knew their place and mainstream media knew theirs.  It doesn't seem that way anymore, to me at least.

Angela outside of USA those videos aren't working due to guidelines, i too have also been listening to a lot of MJ, and just marvelling at the sheer onstage talent he was
99% of pop music was pretty much average but Michael Jackson was probably the best entertainer ever...... He will be loved forever for what he brought to Music Globally
