I'm looking to hear some new music, and I was hoping that I could get some recommendations from you guys and gals. In particular, I'm looking for some riff-oriented heavy blues, in the vein of Joe B., ZZ Top, Cream, Led Zep, etc. Any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance!
This isn't riff-oriented heavy blues, but my oldest son recently turned me on to Killswitch Engage. They rock pretty darn hard. It took a few listenings for me to appreciate them, but I've really grown to like their stuff. I'd recommend either Alive or Just Breathing or The End of Heartache. They're not a Pantera clone, but if you like Pantera you would probably like Killswitch Engage.
That's a certainly a jump from heavy blues. I would go through all the "Other Artists" site and pick a few that seem to be favorites of "Joe's World".

really you should just look through the other artists forum. It is not hard to figure out. you click and read, if no links are posted, use google. I'd say at least 2/3 artists posted in here fit what you're looking for. go for it.
I guess I should have stated that I already own most of the music listed in the Other Artists category; those that I don't own don't quite fit into what I was looking for. I was hoping maybe someone had a suggestion that wasn't listed elsewhere. 
In fact, what prompted me to start this thread was the fact that I do already own most of the music listed. This forum has been a great resource for new music, which is why I asked for more suggestions.

I just downloaded Back Door Slam live at Bonaroo the other day and that's pretty good.
I was listening to Oli Brown's CD in the truck driving home today. Tripsy has some videos of Oli posted on youtube. Take a peek, I think you'll like his sound.
Another good CD that's been out for a few years is Leslie West's "Blues to Die For". 
If you haven't already listened to these, Popa Chubby's 'How'd A White Boy Get The Blues', Cry Of Love's album 'Brother', and Kenny Wayne Shepherd's 'Trouble Is..' and 'Leadbetter Heights' are all worth a listen to start with.
Chickenfoot is in that great classic rock tone. Also, the new Aynsly Lister album is outstanding

Some more Brits once you've heard Oli Brown and Aynsley Lister, turn your ears to Joanne Shaw Taylor, Jay Tamkin, Simon McBride, Gwyn Ashton and Scott McKeon 
You mentioned Zeppelin in your original post, so if you want to hear some serious Zeppelin style music with blues and one of the greatest rock voices of the moment thrown in you need to hear The Answer.
Both of their albums are stunning full on rock and roll. Catch them live and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Another I would stick on the list would be Black Stone Cherry. They are producing some fabulous riff rock. Get it while its hot!

Some great recommendations so far. Thanks, and keep them coming! In the meantime, I've got some music to go check out. I also thought about Alvin Youngblood Hart's Motivational Speaker album, which fits my criteria.

Hey thanks.... I haven't heard of them. They will surely be doing some stuff back here soon.
hmm... I didn't think Colorado had anything in the way of blues musicians
