Re: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

A couple of reasons it stayed that long. One was Satch Direct messages Joe on Twitter. Therefore I figure a friend of Joe's is a friend of ours. I mistakenly didn't successfully move the topic the first time I tried. The most important reason is I knew it was bugging Duncan. smile I did get it moved eventually after he had suffered a bit more.

I like the album even though i"m not a big Sammy fan. It is some darn good stuff in the wasteland of Rock.

Hey, very cool.  I did not know that.  I was able to get personalized signed copies of several of JoeB's CDs (the Special Edition "SILT", "BD", & "Y&M") into JoeS's hands (thanks to a friend of Satch's ~ I gave him personalized signed copies as well) when they were originally released.  I know Satch liked what he heard (thanks again to this friend).  I've been keeping my fingers crossed for an eventual G3 tour with both Joes!  That would be very cool.

BTW ~ I do not know JoeS (I've met him at the tourbus after a couple of his shows, but that's it).  As far as that goes, I don't know JoeB either (although I've met him many times over the years after his shows too).  I doubt either of them have any clue as to who I am, and I'm fine with that.  I have no hidden agenda here.  I just think they are both amazing musicians and will continue to spread the word about them to anybody who will listen, until the day I die.  I've been pushing JoeB to JoeS fans for many years now.

I did know that & that's why I took it upon myself to chime in for you John. I think the Greenose thing is a joke too because I think (the days of reading everything on this forum in one day have loooooong passed now-jeeez) HE got a smackdown from jim from putting his 2 pence into the General Topics instead of "Other Artists."  I think my memory is close, and perhaps even a requoting with a smirk of the "dangerous precedent".  If not, hopefully this is just a mildly boring or mildly entertaining reply.

The biggest joke about this post is that the majority of forum members who bothered to reply to the original post said they were disappointed with performance of Chickenfoot on the Conan Show. Keeping the thread in general topics only highlighted this impression to the rest of the forum. So if it was meant to do the band some good it failed. tongue

The second biggest joke is that when someone states that it should be in other artists, they get put down by the mod.

The third joke was that it was kept in general topics because Sat tweets Jo.  If I tweet Joe does that mean I get to have a post about me in there?!  big_smile

The final joke is that noone on the thread is actually discussing Chickenfoot anymore! lol

Re: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

Yeah Lyn, post-naval contemplating subject drift is one the Joe Bonamassa forum's highlights, maybe it's tour de force.  It has always been so.  A very interesting or valuable tidbit of information often seems to come up here and there, far, far from the original intent of the poster.  We seem to like it that way, and this is the best one (forum) around and it does make for a lot of interesting reading and encourages the writing of the same.

Now, to return to the intent of the poster, more or less big_smile .  I thought the sound was atrocious and they seemed to me to come off more like a garage band than the "supergroup" they indeed are. Chickenfoot on CD sounds very good, impressive, and fun to me.  Since I feel the same about Joe and his group as I do about the guys in Chickenfoot, I could keep this thing going by saying maybe all those hopes and visions of Joe Bonamassa on a major US of A TV show appearance have spared him, us , & a bunch of nonplussed first time listener-viewers from a "what's the big deal" disappointment.  But John "the sign" has been one of the first, foremost, and strongest visionary's of Joe Bonamassa in a G3 iteration.  On this very forum we have seen that it has been knocked around, Joe is conducive (even if scheduling isn't always). Now, Joe in a G3 iteration, even on a Conan appearance where the sound is turned down....I don't think it could be anything but an impressive first-time  listener-viewer experience anyway.

Re: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

Even thought this topic was misplaced, I do not believe it is misdirected! Eh, jim m? lol
John, aka "The Sign" had voiced that exact sentiment many years ago, Brack! The subject has bounced around the forum(s) several years also, and I fourscore believe (or is it predict? smile ) it is close to coming full circle to fruition at least as a one time reality, one of these days, although now there's one Chickenfoot out of the coop, so don't know how that plan can ever get fertilized for hatching... There is an obvious mutual admiration between the Joes, they have played together and Joe Bonamassa has expressed an interest to the point of saying he would be conducive to accepting an invitation to G3. Time once again, tells all.  Fingers triple-crossed John!!!

Yeah, I'd love to see JoeB in G3!  Keeping ALL my fingers crossed.  IF it ever happens, I hope my getting JoeB's CDs to JoeS played some small part in it.  BTW... the =o|-[ is supposed to be a CyberAlien.  I came up with it in the early daze of Satriani's earliest forum.  A nod to his "Surfing With The (cyber)Alien" CD.  Of course, you have to look at the "sign" sideways.

Wouldn't it be kind of interesting coinkydink if Joe B did a guest spot on a Chickenfoot show or album? Then it would be the guy who had Sammy Hagar's son Aaron in his band playing in the band Aaron's father is in... OR Joe played with father and son Hagar...Is that so horrible... OR Joe with a pair of Hagar's (sic) that weren't slacks... Doubt anyone gets this stuff roll

Re: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

Well, I listened to the whole album and I thought it sounded very generic and boring. I thought I was going to like it based on some of the previews, but it got old very quick. And I can't stand Sammy Hagar's singing! He reminds me of Michael Bolton...they both sound like they're always straining themselves. The only thing worth listening to were Satch's solos...
