Topic: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

FYI for anybody who likes Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony (Van Halen), or Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers):  The formed a group called Chickenfoot and just came out with a great rockin' CD today.  AND... they will be on the Tonight show in less than a half hour (EST).

Hey John, i've been hearing a lot of good things about Chickenfoot lately. They are coming to Albany, NY on August 18 at a fairly small theater(Palace). Let me know if you are heading this way.  Larry G

Hey Larry...

Gail & I are hoping to make it to the Albany show.  Hopefully decent tickets will be available after the Chickenfoot-fanclub pre-sales (which I didn't pay to join & be able to get the pre-sale).  Their first leg of U.S. shows sold out almost immediately with the presales only, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  I'll let you know when I find out, but I DEAFinitely want to get to one of these shows, & Albany is the closest announced so far.

So what about their performance on the Late Show ?

Sorry Brack.  Good performance (sound could have been better imho), but not one of my favorite songs off the CD.  Either way, hope to be able to catch one of these shows live.  Also, as much as I love seeing Satriani as a solo musician, I hope they do another CD.  Hagar was mentioning that he'd like Chickenfoot to do an EP of Blues/Rock tunes.  I'd be on-board for that!

Meh...not very impressed. Hoping for some more originality.  Move this to other artists next time btw.

Agree whole heartedly, Sammy was very subdued on Conan compared to live in Toronto late May. Poor song choice and also the background vox mikes seemed screwed up. Very cool of Joe to give Conan his axe after Conan asked him how he does his trademark squeal.....

I'm with Chris- it wasn't that impressive.  The television sound stage did them no favors and you know damn well Sammy likes to play L-O-U-D!!! A tightly packed venue- I'd say they're gonna blow the top off places.. but that was kind of, not pathetic, not pitiful, not lame, but it approached more towards those places than any kind of big "Wowser"... YouTube was far better believe it or not!

Hey Larry...

Don't know if you've noticed yet, but this date is no longer listed.  I hope it shows back up, or another CNY date gets listed.

I'd say they don't want to compete with The Allman Brothers Band in Saratoga at the SPAC the same date.  ALWAYS a good draw in New York in summer...Makes it easier to choose who to see that night!

Re: Chickenfoot on Conan Tonight!

Ease up a few notches Duncan. John, aka "the sign" big_smile, doesn't really post a lot but has been following Joe for one of the longest times, maybe THE longest of fans registered on Joe's forums... He pipes in rarely, but always about Joe or a Joe show or occasionally about Satch or Vai, (big fan of them) etc.... Reads here a lot, in & out pretty quick. but doesn't follow every thread, so he just made a little slip on the topic selection.  This one will die even if it's a little slow doing so.  Probably right now!

There are people on the board that do. It was posted where most people would see it. I didn't see anything wrong with it but intended to move it to other artists after the date has passed. Just been busy. If you will use the report feature you can request things like moving a post to other topics and it will usually be addressed.

Just my view, but did Chickenfoot need the extra publicity of a post in main topics.!?

You're starting a dangerous precedent with that Jim, who’s on Conan this week? And next?

Not sure but I can check for you Duncan. Of course this wouldn't be the first dangerous precedent I have potentially created. Anything to make you happy.

Thank you Jim, that's exactly why I posted it there.  I never thought Chickenfoot needed any extra publicity, just wanted to give a last second heads-up to anybody who might be interested in watching it.  As much as I love the Blues, and Joe's music specifically, I also listen to and appreciate many other types of great music, and figured that others on here do as well.  Not really sure why Greenose has his panties in a bunch over this, but... don't really care either.

Rocket: thanx for the support as well! smile

John, that's exactly the reason for the other artists section, to highlight other acts. If we all took the same approach, the forum would be pretty unmanageable. Don't worry about my panties big_smile
