Topic: Hello Everybody !

Thought it was about time I actually posted and say hello to everybody on the forum.

My wife say's I'm too old to go to gigs but that doesn't stop me !

I have seen Joe in concert twice, at Holmfirth Picturedrome and Sheffield City Hall and will be going to Leeds in December.

I recently went to see Aynsley Lister support Wishbone Ash at Wakefield ( I left after ALB !) and also attended the Classic Rock and Blues splash at Holmfirth where I enjoyed the set's by Oli Brown and Buddy Whittington.

Later in the year, I'm going to the Leamington Spa All-Dayer to mainly see Oli, Aynsley and Buddy.

If anybody on the forum is going to either Leamington or Leeds ( I know a couple of you are ! ), it would be nice to say hello !

Re: Hello Everybody !

Hi Gary,
How nice of you to join us....welcome to Joe's forum.
I have to say that I think your wife is wrong! Great live music is what keeps us feeling young, I hope I'll still be going to gigs in twenty years time and more.
It was nice to meet you at Holmfirth....Oli and Buddy were great!
I will definitely be at the Leeds gig in december and probably the Leamington Spa extravaganza in november.

Thanks for the nice welcome Tripsy, it was also nice to meet up with you at Holmfirth......and you are correct....my wife is wrong on the gig attending ( but whisper it won't you wink ! )
I enjoy gig's now as much as I enjoyed my first ever way back in 1971 ( Elton at Leeds Town Hall ) !

See you at Leamington and Leeds !

Gary! - fancy bumping into you here. cool

You'll like this place - there are so many great freindly knowledgable musiclovin' folks dropping by all the time.
Even Joe joins in the fun from time to time.

I'll be at Leamington in November - look forward to meeting you Gary.
It should be fun, with a bunch of us from here, and the guys from the other place our paths cross.

And just tell your good lady that you're never too old to rock 'n roll...... or rock 'n blues.... or - oh whatever! lol

Re: Hello Everybody !

Hi Gary

Welcome.

Sounds like you could be from my neck of the woods (I grew up in Sheffield).
I like your list of musicians above.

Not sure about your wifes comments. Well actually yes I am. She's wrong.

My wife told me to not sing at a Joe concert once. AND it was Walk in My Shadow !!
We will have been married 30 years this month.

Don't know how  !!  wink lol

Your first gig.
Hmmmm got me thinking.

I can't remember at the mo if it was Groundhogs for me at Sheffield City Hall or Led Zep at the University. The latter I think.

Hi Ges, thanks for the welcome, I'm from Huddersfield and still live there although I lived away for a few years whilst I was in the Navy but came back when I left.

Your first gig sounds interesting........For my first gig, me and my mate missed the last train back to Huddersfield as Elton didn't come on till about 10.00pm........we got a late bus back to Dewsbury and then had to walk from there ( about 8 miles) !

I saw Joe a few weeks back at the City Hall......It was excellent, I just wished a few would have stood up especially in the encore's !

Hi Gary
A newbie saying hello to a newbie! I'm from the North East meself but I've got relatives who live in Pontefract and Leeds. I went to see the Black Crowes two weeks ago in Brixton and felt fricking ancient (I'm 46) but I had a blinding night so I'll keep going until me legs pack in.

All the best
Chris.

Hehe...my wife's relatives live in High Ackworth...lovely place when I've been (weddings mainly!) Not too far from a pub and church just round the corner. One of my mates lives somewhere round there (or used to). His name is Craig Ellis and he's a drummer for Tygers Of Pan Tang amongst other things. smile

Wecome Gary. Looking at your post in the demographic thread you're definitely not too old as I'm older  hmm

I have seen Joe in concert twice, at Holmfirth Picturedrome and Sheffield City Hall and will be going to Leeds in December.

I can't make it up to your part of the world but I'll be seeing Joe in Southampton and we'll send him on to you in good condition smile

Later in the year, I'm going to the Leamington Spa All-Dayer to mainly see Oli, Aynsley and Buddy.

If anybody on the forum is going to either Leamington or Leeds ( I know a couple of you are ! ), it would be nice to say hello !

I'll be there so hopefully we can say hi over a beer between the acts. Look forward to meeting you and the other Bonabuddies..

cheers

David

Gary,
Welcome to Joe's forum.  Interesting people abound and unlike other forums the man himself occasionally joins in.
As for anyone ever being too old to rock'n'roll - well that's just baloney.  We embrace and cherish the things we love and that lasts till the last light is switched off in our brain.
Sorry for the waffle but you get my point..right?
