Topic: Muse

Sorry if a thread has already been created here but I wanted to start one on Muse.
Muse are one of the first bands I got into (after being a hip-hop/rap fan) and I still listen to them almost everyday.
I was hoping some others would be fans here.
I do see quite a few of the gothic/emo types being muse fans and I am nothing like that. I am not really into heavy music at all unless its heavy blues tongue I like muse for the beautiful blend of classical style into there rock.
Anyway, I just found out they are touring europe and they hit my city the day after my birthday! Which means I am definitely going big_smile
Ive watched their live DVDs countless times so I cannot wait to see them live for myself.

Re: Muse

Muse are brilliant...a one-off. You can always find something that influenced a band and I'd say Matt was possibly into Radiohead and probably Jeff Buckley. Beyond that I have no idea and think that he just writes whatever he wants to. The Wembley Stadium DVD is amazing.

Re: Muse

You will enjoy seeing them live, I was asked by my sister if I would take my nephew to their Wembley Stadium shows a couple of years ago as she didn't want him going alone.....I played the dutiful uncle and have to say that the gig was brilliant !......I think I enjoyed it more than my nephew !

Re: Muse

Tickets for their six-date UK arena tour in November go on sale this Friday at 9.00am. Will hopefully be able to grab some, as i have been a fan for a few years now. They certainly put on a good show, and are an amazing live band from everything I've seen and heard!!! Nice to see some other fans in here too. This forum certainly has an eclectic mix!! cool

Re: Muse

My teens turned me on to Muse as well.  About Matt - WHAT A VOICE and vocal range!!

Mayercaster-nice move from hip/hop and rap and thanks for reminding me that I want to watch that Wembley DVD wink.  My son and I had a discussion about Muse a while back...I told him, if he liked Muse, he should appreciate classical music more, but in reality, Muse has a hip/cool way of getting their music across that is really appealing.  An older band that this same son got into was Renassaince with female vocalist Annie Haslam.  If you don't know them, check them out, I saw them a couple of times back in the 70's...different than Muse, but that classical edge with very powerful vocals mets cool/modern music...

some of the youtube clips aren't the best, but...

Re: Muse

I've always wandered how much of an influence Matt's dad George has been on his development as a guitar player and Muse's development as a band?    I'm sure having a few nods in the right direction must have helped.
