Topic: Zurich, Switzerland 21/05/2009

Hi!

Just some words about Joe`s gig in Zurich.

Once again it was a superb performance by Joe and the whole band. It was my fifth Bonamassa-gig, I think that counts me in as a "fan". Compared to the BOJH-album the live set was much more intense and that was very good for most of the songs. Personal favourites were "Happier times" (my favourite ballad, right after Mountain Time), "Story of a Quarryman" and "Lonesome road blues". The set list was pretty much the same as in the german gigs before and included "Further up on the road" as well.

You might enjoy these two videos I`ve recored here:

Kindly,
Michael

I was there too. Easily among the top 3 gigs I've seen in the past 30 years or so. Absolutely brilliant.
I don't remember the exact set list but I noticed that Joe started straight away with "John Henry" on his new double-neck Music Man.
After the show I hung around for a while hoping to get a chance to see him. I was already giving up when some lady told me he was inside the tour bus parked outside the venue. Lo and behold -- after a few minutes Joe appeared (I think to load some gear into the bus, I'm not sure). Joe, should you ever read this: I was the guy who asked you for a pic or two with you and some mates of mine. Thanks again for your time and courtesy. You're a top bloke.

That was such a cool start to a gig. It was 19:55 and without any sign Joe started with the intro to John Henry. Quite special, since musicians usually are known to be NOT on time.

Thanks for the videos Michael, great stuff.

Thank you both for sharing. Bluesbreaker (a JM fan?)...Joe is very fan friendly. The trick is to allow him time to cool down and change his clothes. If possible he'll come back out at the venue. If not he's usually available at the bus. There are occasions when it's not possible, but it's never because he doesn't want to meet and greet his fans. Thanks again for the efforts to post pics and videos. They are a gift!    Cathy

Not so much JM (I'm not too keen on his singing) but the triumvirate Clapton/Green/Taylor.

Joe is indeed the friendliest and most unassuming "star" I've ever met. Great guy.
