Topic: Ello!

Hi all...

Thought it best to introduce myself before I get stuck in to the forum. I've been on a few forums in the past and I have to say that this one seems like it has some of the friendliest and interesting folk i've come across.

Well....I'm a nurse working in critical care/burns, a young wipper snapper at 22 but an old head on my shoulders. I'm in to all sorts of music... blues, classic rock, prog rock, folk, rock, pretty much anything apart from all that garage and drum and bass... Awful!

I'm quite a new fan of Joe's, only been listening for about 18 months, give or take. To cut a long story short, a wee while ago I managed to get bacterial meningitis and septicemia after white water rafting in beautiful Wales. I was in a coma for 2 weeks so my dad took it upon himself to musically educate me. He brought me an iPod and some of THE biggest headphones I have ever seen and put about 20 of Joe's tracks on it. I remember hearing bits of it while I was having the longest sleep of my life, and when I eventually came round I was utterly convinced that somebody had been in my hospital room playing the guitar and singing. The nurse who was with me when I came round explained it all to me, looked on the iPod and said he's called Joe Bombassa! Ever since then I have been hooked. Everytime I hear his music it reminds me of how damn lucky I am to still be here, have all my limbs in good working order and of the friends and family I have around me.

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Joe for the first time in April at the Civic Hall in Wolves. I was awe struck! My eyes are still hurting after replacing them post fall out and i've just picked my jaw up off the floor. As a guitar player myself, it took me to a whole new level big_smile

Anyway enough of the sob story, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in to the forum, learning, reading, noseying, sharing and having a good old natter with like minded folk!

Becky smile

P.S. Joe, when your in Wolves again and your after some more of that delicious Marks and Spencer food, give me a shout....I have contacts in high places wink

Re: Ello!

Hello Becky and a very warm welcome from me in Holland!

What a great end of that nasty story.
So glad you recovered so well and that Joe's music helped you so good with it.

A few weeks ago we had an item about the curing help of Joe's music and talk about it.
I'm not good in computers but I'm sure someone can tell you where it is.

Glad to have you here and keep posting!

A big hug for you and keep posting.
It's true : this is a wonderful forum for a wonderful musician and huming being.

Re: Ello!

Hi Becky and welcome indeed to Joe's fine forum.
Your story is amazing! We all know that Joe's music is very special and that proves it. Your dad must be a very special person too, what's his name? I'm also curious to know which of Joe's songs he put on your ipod. Maybe they should be available on the NHS smile

Joe Bombassa lol When I first heard of Joe I kept thinking Mombassa!

Hope you enjoy yourself here Becky...............Tripsy smile

Ps Do you live in Wales?

Re: Ello!

Thank you both for your kind and warm welcome smile

Andre...it would be interesting to read that post, i'll have a good mooch around and see what I can find.

Tripsy... My dads name is David. Unfortunately I don't live in Wales, I live in the West Midlands. I've still got the iPod with the tracks on, he put all of the Sloe Gin album on and all of Blues Deluxe. I'll have to write a letter to the Department of Health and NICE, see if we can get in on prescription big_smile

Re: Ello!

Hi Becky, and welcome to the forum.

That's a great story - sounds like you "Woke up Dreaming".

I was at the Civic Hall too - would have been difficult to identify you among the countless other folk dragging their jaws along the floor on the way out though. Dont wory - I guess just about everyone on the forum has had that experience first time round - perhaps you shoud bring a few of your work colleagues to the next one in case first aid is required. smile

Re: Ello!

Hi Icon and thank you for your welcome smile

Thats the plan, to drag as many along as I can, not just for the first aid lol but for the pure enjoyment of such a brilliant performer!

I was wearing a Rush t-shirt, little black shorts, 5ft 11", long brown hair, average build, and a bottle of Bud in one hand! Dunno if that helps, but it's a good advert for a dating webiste....hahahahaha!

Becky:  There's a bit of a primer here a page or 2 in.....and a few folks here (myself included) that would be glad to help you get started...it's a bit tricky at first but once you get it up and running....you better buy a large external hard drive.  I have 2 250 GB drives almost full.

wow what a story, that really means alot to me, its overwhelming! would love to know what songs were in those 20.
i don't read this section all the time .
anyway glad you are ok and glad you are here (along with all the others)

Hi Jane and thanks for the welcome smile

He put all of the the Sloe Gin album on and all of Blues Deluxe. So I think there was about 22-23 songs altogether??! It's odd because my family and friends told me that when they came to visit me they was always talking to me, and I can't remember any of it, but I vividly remember some of Joe's music being played to me, or a man in the room singing...lol!

Hi Becky

Sorry I've seen quite a few of your insightful posts around the forum which I've much enjoyed, but not seen your introduction here and your story until now.  Glad that you made a full recovery and that you discovered Joe. Keep posting smile Perhaps we'll meet at Leamington Spa! smile
