Topic: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

Hi y'all!

I registered about a month ago but was such a lurker that I haven't posted before. Fortunately this weekend I got some encouragement to post and here I am. How come? I attended my first-ever concert of Joe in Dresden on Saturday and also met the very lovely Eva, who is the sweetest and nicest gal ever. I have to thank her for so many things, I don't even know where to start.

I intend to write a little something on the concert but couldn't get it done yet because I was kind of incoherent for the last 24 or so hours. It absolutely blew me away, I loved every minute of it. Damn, I better stop here and try to save the best for my write-up but I guess it'll include lots of totally random details and I'll embarrass myself to no end. But I have a few pretty pictures I'd definitely like to share.

So anyway, I'm Claudia, 23, from Germany (the western part of Saxony, to be a bit more precise).

Joe's name wasn't unknown to me, my Dad owns 2 of his albums. Still, the first time I actively paid attention to his music was about 2 months ago when I came across an article about his latest CD in the Eclipsed music magazine. It finally made me go and listen and I couldn't be happier. I remember it was "Stop!" that literally made me stop in my ways when the guitar solo came on. Also, by now, next to Joe's stellar guitar playing, song choice and writing, I do love his voice to pieces and think everything he's achieved so far is incredibly impressive.

Another thing, it always amazes me how people react when they find out I listen to blues music. A friend of my Dad's couldn't believe it was me who bought TBOJH. What's up with that, can a girl not listen to some mighty fine blues rock? wink I admit I listen to a lot of genres, I don't focus on the blues and don't know every single artist there is out there but still, it's been in my life for years in various capacities and I'm glad it is.

Way to ramble on and on, I better shut up for now. It's great to be here, though. smile

Re: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

Welcome onboard Claudia, nice first post!

Glad that Stop made you stop and that you've been to see Joe.  And you've met Eva too, isn't she great! smile

Nothing wrong with being 23 and liking some blues! Maybe you can convince them in time to pick up some Joe too! smile

Re: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

Hi Claudia and welcome at last to Joe's forum. It's always nice when a lurker finally takes the plunge.
Glad you enjoyed your first show and I look forward to reading your full review and seeing your pics.
Eva is a lovely young lady and I'm not surprised that she was able to encourage you to join us ....she has such enthusiasm for all things Joe as we all do here.

Tripsy smile

Unglaublich! Noch eine junge Deutsche Dame die fantastisch gutes Englisch schreibt!! Sei gegrüsst von einem alten exil-Wiener. big_smile

Welcome, Claudia! I'm sure Eva has told you everything you need to know about this wonderful place we have here, so all I'll say is - enjoy, and keep posting.

P.S. The next time you come to Amsterdam can you please bring some decent sausages? cool

When will your dad post here?

Thank you so very much for the warm welcome! smile

Oh, I've never been to Amsterdam but in case I manage to go there I'll think of that and let you know. Any preferences? wink

@Eva's Dad: LOL, your comment made me laugh so much! Unfortunately my Dad's not too tech-savvy with computers so I'll simply let you all know what's on his mind. He does say Hello, too! And he really likes Joe's music as well, in fact he got "So It's Like That" in the limited edition with the DVD years ago when it came out. (It's been in my possession lately, though wink). Now of course I'm kicking myself for not paying attention earlier but better late than never!

I'm working on it but still need a bit of time to finish that review, it's taking me a while to get my thoughts back together and not having it sound like I'm totally crazy... And I have to work on the pics a bit first but I'll get it done this week, I promise.

Re: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

Hello Lynnelle,

welcome to the growing list of Bonabuddies. The German side of things is growing nicely. We all just saw Joe on Sunday so we kind of know how you feel, but there is nothing like seeing Joe for the first time!

Everybody on here has wide and varied tastes in music, but it is Joe's music that has brought us together. As a result of being a forum member here I have seen at least 5 new artists I would never probably have otherwise seen.

I look forward to seeing more of your posts

Sorry liebe Claudia,

Lese erst gerade deine Post. Herzlich willkommen auf diesem wunderbaren Forum.
Enjoy your stay here and your first post was just great, so keep posting please.

Where are you from in Sachsen, somewhere near Dresden? I've never been there as you never been in Amsterdam!
Maybe a Joe show will change that in the future!

Re: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

I already think you guys are awesome, thanks for being so nice! I definitely feel like making a home here since I haven't been active in a forum for quite a while now.

That is so very true! But it's like a drug, once you get started you don't want to stop. I'm already having withdrawal symptoms. :S

Andre, you're totally not late with posting. No, unfortunately I'm not even close to Dresden. I live in a city near Zwickau, (you guys don't need to know it, there unfortunately isn't much to see around here anyway). But if you ever consider coming to Saxony, make sure you check out Dresden and Leipzig, these both are wonderful cities with beautiful city centers. (Saxony needs more love and tourists... Oh well, Barack Obama is coming to Dresden in early June, maybe that helps. Just sayin'. wink)

And I do love English so I'm trying to write and read (and watch) as much as possible in this language but of course I still mess things up at times. If I'm overtalking, someone please stop me. ;S

Aah, you signed up !! smile

It was so great to meet you ... I instantly got this feeling that Dresden surely wasn´t the last time for the two of us (or three + Issy, you´ve got to meet her!) to rock out together. We´ve got some shows ahead of us, I´m sure - you show all signs of serious addiction. Hooray for the German Bluesrock Chicks. big_smile

Just got home (wasted), so I hope you´ll do a fabulous write-up on the Dresden show. I´m actually sure you will. smile

Love ya already, Eva

Hi Claudia

Welcome.
Hope you'll enjoy this ride as much as we all do big_smile

Great you and your Dad enjoy the same music.

Re: Finally introducing myself and thus Hi from Germany!

Eva! <3 Haha, the addiction is that obvious already, isn't it. That'd be so cool to have a little forum meeting! And I'll just say Hi to Issy right now even though I don't know her yet. lol

I hope you had a great time but how can you not. wink

Again, thanks to all of you for replying, I already feel at home here.

So, I'll better get that review out of my system now!
