Topic: Hi from Vancouver BC

Hi everyone,

I was introduced to Joe's music by my brother-in-law who is a blues guitarist in Orlando.  Within a couple of months, Joe came to Vancouver and I was there, right in front of the stage.  We have a great venue here called the Commodore Ballroom which has a huge dance floor.  Since no one dances there anymore, you can stand with a few feet of the artists and there were times when Joe was only 6 feet from me.  What an incredible show it was!  I've never heard such power from an acoustic guitar.

I bought the live CD that night and yesterday bought John Henry.  I didn't think he could top the live album but he did.  It's awesome.

About me - I've just about given up on my ability to be a guitar player but I'll probalby keep at it.  Learning the bit I have has given me a greater appreciation of music.  Love most kinds of music but really prefer blues, rock and country, some classical and I have a soft spot for Brazilian music.

Looks like Joe's not coming to Vancouver this summer, only Calgary.  Might have to try to get there.

He rocks that acoustic doesn't he!!? Amazing....

Don't give up on your guitar, I think we've all been there at some point. I play too, watched youtube videos of Joe and other guitarists and think "Nah, i'll never be that good"...but practice makes perfect. Some people, like Joe, are just born with natural talent, others have to work at it hmm

Hi Vancouver Fan,
Welcome to the forum and to our ever growing family.
You know Joe puts his success down to having maybe 10% talent and the other 90% is down to sheer hard work and practise so don't give up playing smile

I've played a guitar for about 35 years and am still rubbish. Probably about as good as Joe aged 4 !!
But sometimes, it can make my neck hair stand up.
Ain't that what music's about ??
