Well I have been back a week from London...jet lagg, are you kidding, I was roaming around the house at all hours like a kid who drank to much caffeine.....but when the occasions when I slept in my own bed, what a great sleep...that mattress cost me more than some pay for used cars, but worth every penny when your bulging disks are killing you....when the plane lands and you know your home, your love ones are waiting for you with big smiles....you get home, thinking you get to get some sleep, NO!...they want to hear all about your trip, they plug your camera into the television and want a detailed description of each and every picture, oh theres video too?...now werer never going to get to sleep....3am rolls around before they give up....but, theres no place like home...think I'll cut the grass today....temperature is suppose to be 103 degrees!!!!!!!....send me back to Mikeys house big_smile

I hear you Shred. The trip was magnificent, but the longer you're gone, the better it feels to come back home.
My wife and other daughter were really happy to have me back (who would have thought?), and when we got home from the airport, the dogs ran around in circles like raving lunatics for a full 10 minutes. Of course they do that if I go out to the garage for 2 minutes and come back!
No place like home, indeed!

Re: Theres no place like home

Mine was a little different guys…

Started traveling at 09:00 (9:00 AM) London time. 7 ½ hour flight aboard an Airbus over the Big Pond to Toronto; three movies watched….I just can’t sleep on a plane! roll Gained 5 hours with that trip. Then 2 plus hours layover in Toronto. Drinks with Patty and Rhonda at a place called the Molson Pub. As I recall two bloody marys for Patty, one bloody mary and one white Russian for Rhonda and for me, two rather large glasses of Molson on tap, ice cold with additional ice to keep it cold. 1 hour flight from Toronto to Chicago O’Hare aboard a regional puddle jumper jet. Gained another hour with that flight. 1 hour wait for a regional bus (that I had just missed) to take me from O’Hare to the bus company’s Milwaukee park ‘n ride. A 1 ½ hour ride to Milwaukee. And a 45 minute drive home that I completed in about 25 minutes. Hey, when you’re as jet lagged as I was, all I wanted to do was get home.

Upon entering my home at now 22:30 (10:30 PM)/04:30 AM London time, I am greeted to silence. The children are watching a movie and only my son Ben’s head peeks up over the couch and says, “Oh , hi Dad.” And then it’s back to the movie. Goldie, our yellow Labrador, comes out of a sound sleep with a bone in her mouth wiggling her tail frantically…..well, at least someone is glad I’m home. Go upstairs to find Dawn fully dressed and out asleep in bed. I had indicated to her that if I got home early enough, maybe we could go out and get something to eat and drink at a local establishment. I lean in, tap her on the shoulder and ask if that’s why she’s still dressed. I realize then, she’s in no mood to go anywhere. Take my clothes off, put my PJ’s on, and as my head hits the pillow, dreams of Paris, London, Joe’s RAH show, Segway riding and great friends fill my mind as I drift off to sleep……
Welcome home.

Roy

P.S. Did they really miss me? Oh well, it still was good to be home! smile

Re: Theres no place like home

Roy, I doubt that's true. The part about your family greeting you, I mean. wink

Mary

LOL-ler-tastic.

Re: Theres no place like home

unfortunately, i missed the RAH gig but I can honestly say i have never ever thought 'Theres no place like home' after a trip.
Infact when I got home from New York, and drove onto our estate and up my road, I got a lump in my throat.
I'd love to tour like Joe does, I can never settle anywhere.

Re: Theres no place like home

Crafty little tip for you frequent fliers..

The trick to avoiding jetlag is to starve yourself. Don't eat anything at the airport or on the plane and only drink water. When you arrive, eat a meal appropriate to the timezone you land in i.e breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The reason this works is because your body has two internal clocks. A body clock and a food clock. The food clock always wins!

Obviously it goes without saying.. don't do this if you have medical conditions!

Mary, I wish it weren't true, but all of it is. I did leave out one thing about Dawn though. I'll leave that to the forums imagination. wink
