Topic: Yup.....another Joe Bonamassa fan

I'm sad to say I've only recently came across Joe Bonamassa........but now that I have, I've kind of gone crazy and mainly listen to his music on my way to work. It's music like this that also drives me to buying the best hi fi I can afford....

I saw Joe live in Glasgow on Monday night, and having listened to his Live from no where in particular cd I had high expectations.

Now, I have to be honest, the support act was not great, not terrible, but forgettable. When he went off, it was only 10/15 mins later before lights were dimmed for the arrival of the man himself.....and prity much from the start, he had the whole place captivated. I loved every single second of his set. About half way through he stood in middle of stage which an acoustic and it was just jaw dropping......Dad and I exchanged a look that we both understood to be dumb stuck at what we were hearing.

Joe is the Eric Clapton of my generation.......

I look forward to hearing more of his music in the years to come.

Welcome on board daft logger. You are right, Glasgow was amazing! Maybe see you in Edinburgh in December! smile

Welcome to the forum.  Just discovered Joe eh?  Well better now than never.  Nothing to be sad about. I like your line about being the Eric Clapton of our time.  Wow Eric Clapton and Joe in the same sentence.  Such an honor!  The only thing better is playing at the Royal Albert Hall and that is just days away.  For all the folks going to that show I am truely envious.  I am glad that you enjoyed the Glasgow show, sounds like it was pretty amazing.  Take care and keep posting. big_smile

Re: Yup.....another Joe Bonamassa fan

It's been a while since I've posted on introductions. There were always so many other threads on here buzzin', and so many other newbies joining there just wasn't enough time to make a comment it seemed.

But welcome to this forum. Its all about Joe, of course, but I guarantee you there is so much else to discover here. Not just the tremendous people you get to talk, argue, and chat to, but also what you can learn. I've discovered so many other new (to me) artists I didn't know on here from the other members. I can honestly say its broadened my scope.

After all, Joe can't play for us every night (he tries though with 200+ shows per year! )and record new stuff every day so its good to get the views and news from others in the know.

This is a great time to have joined the gang. We are watching an artist develop from being a great to a potential superstar. There is something about this man. Its not just the guitar chops which he has in spades. There is something else. I don't know what its gonna take but its coming.

The Eric Clapton of your generation. I like it. I'm just glad those of us from Eric's generation can appreciate him too.

All of us have dropped our jaws at Joe the first time. He never fails to impress on a first seeing. Even on a rare bad night (apparently he has them) he is still a country mile better than most others out there.

Having said all of that, check out Aynsley Lister, Oli Brown, Ian Parker, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Derek Trucks and the hundreds of others you will learn about on here. You won't be disappointed. We're Bonanmaniacs, but we're music fans too.

Welcome again and as QCDan said, keep posting

Thanks for taking the time to reply and for the recommendations. I'm always on the hunt for new music....which is how I came across JB, random chance and what a gem of a find he was too. I've been telling everyone I know and come into contact with and converted a fair few, who have gone on to recommend to their friends and family. I suspect JB will soon become a house hold name.

I've actually just been listening to Clapton (unplugged) and still love the track "Old Love"........

Will post some of my recommendations later.....thanks again.
