Topic: New LPs

I went to the Gibson website for the first time in months and was surprised to see some tasty new axes:

The first is what appears to be Gibson's answer to the Stratocaster VG. They're calling it the Dark Fire. The promo suggests they've stopped shipping them for a design flaw in the electronics. The first I've heard of this one.

On the Heels of the "Inspired By Joe Bonamassa" LP, now they have a limited run of a 1954 in Oxblood - the Jeff Beck model. Only 150 to be made. If they're not gone by now I'm thinking it won't take long.

Then there's the Gary Moore BFG model. This one is actually somewhat affordable ($1400 at GC). A stripped down BFG body with a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position and a P90 in the neck. Also from what I can tell from the promo, the 3 way toggle was moved from up near the neck pup down to where one of the tone pots should be, the other tone pot is wired as a master.  I might have to try one of these out when they're released. GC has an in stock date in April. I'll have to wait until one shows up in my local store.

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: New LPs

I'm not really sure about the BFG Gary Moore sig, but I cannot WAIT until his signature Marshall is released.  Supposedly it's going to be a mix between an old 100w 1959 Superlead and the DSL100 with reverb, fx loop, and mid boost.  So they are having problems with the Dark Fire Les Pauls...God never intended computers and guitars to mix you know! lol

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: New LPs

Those jeff beck LPs are £10,000 here. Rediculous!
Have to be a huge fan of his to justify it I think.

That Marshall sounds like my perfect amp!
Bet it costs a fair bit though.

Re: New LPs

Very cool, it's about time Jeff got his own model...how's it gonna go over with Jeff having signature deals at Fender and Gibson though?

Here's a thread at the Les Paul Forum with some really cool guitar geek info:

Re: New LPs

Dark Fire guitar had a contest on youtube where you write a song about it and you could win one. I was going to enter. But then I got lazy.

WOW

Jeff beck deserves its own thread... really.

Jeff Beck was playing LP's before Fenders. Same with Clapton. Except I think Clapton was always getting his stolen... lol.  So what does that mean? Apparently, nobody was willing to steal his strat? lol

Wonder why Beck has the wraparound tailpiece? How functional is that? I guess it makes it look unqiue, but what if the intonation is off?

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: New LPs

His tailpiece was really effed, set at really extreme angles, for just that reason.
