There are some absolute tasty gems to be found that are hardly ever mentioned , You should go back and listen they are not to be overlooked

That's the great thing about Joe's music. There ARE lots of hidden gems, and they're different for everyone.
One example would be Black Night...one of my favorite songs, and if I had time to listen to only one song from Sloe Gin, I think it would be that one. I agree that it's been left behind a bit (maybe because it hasn't made it to the setlist?).

It's a great list, thanks for the trip down memory lane...I might add one more: "Wild About You Baby"

I have to agree with that list especially "Tamp 'Em Up Solid". I love that song... just the most peaceful feel and the echo on the voice and guitar rings through your whole head and you can't help but close your eyes. Reminds me of driving through the mountains on kind of a cloudy grey day. Thanks for bringing it up... I'm listening to it now.

We can probably add "From The Valley" to that feel, but it's still not quite the same. I'd love to see him play this solo at the RAH near the end of the show or something, but I doubt that would happen... I guess it's hard to beat the studio version though.

I think it shows a different side to Joe's playing and feeling. I'd love to see another one like this sometime.

Have to agree that 'Black night' falls into the hidden gem folio.
I would also like to nominate 'Your Funeral - My Trial' and 'Man of Many Words'.

One that stands out for me is "Waiting for Me" off of SILT.  Even though Joe might think the disc is a coaster.

Or how about, take any song off of "ANDY-Live"? Joe live is fantastic and that CD just smolders in the player. Better yet, play the DVD on the wide screen with the home theatre system blasting away. Oh my, you just can't sit still and watch it! wink

That's funny 'cos i was gonna say "Man Of Many Words"  over Long Distance Blues and also "Waiting For Me" is one all my all time fave songs anywhere , Come to think of it , it is
Joe has played "Waiting For Me" Live but not "No Slack" (correct me if i'm wrong)

I'm catching up on my Bonamassa back catalogue and recently got So, It's Like That for my birthday. Got to agree with you Michael, No Slack is a belter - just love the wah pedal especially in Joe's hands (or foot).

Not a huge fan of most of the coaster album, but I'll toast to Black Night, When She Dances, Long Distance Blues, and Tamp 'Em Up Solid. I don't think there are any gems on TBOJH, they're all mains for me.

Here's some of my favorite "gems":
Pack It Up is a really fun one for me..."I'm gonna put you right outta my mind!", really powerful stuff. Some great blues progressions in there too.

I like Travelin' South too, it's a little repetitive but I'm a big fan of hick country stuff, be it slide or chicken picking...speaking of which...

Revenge of the 10 Gallon Hat, Joe's tribute to Danny Gatton, is just too much fun, especially if you play guitar. I usually bounce between jamming to that and Brad Paisley's Nervous Breakdown.

You And Me's Torn Down is probably the most radio friendly tunes of the album, gotta love it.

Richmond and India played back to back are a nice pair. I've actually heard Richmond being played over the intercom in Borders before if that says anything, it's just got a real laid back feel.

I love "Mumbling Word" from Blues Deluxe.  Every time that song comes up in shuffle on the iPod, I can't believe I don't play it more.  What a great song.

I have plugged When She Dances numerous times in the 'What are you listening to' topic. A surprisingly gorgeous love song, though sadly not one Joe is ever likely to do live.

The only one I disagree with is Feelin Good. While I don't really like to 'dis' any songs Joe does - I have been corrupted with American Idol, in which this is a pretty popular song for contestants to do... so I'm pretty sick of it. Plus it comes off as a little self-indulgent. I'm not passing judgement here, just stating it is my least favorite song on the new album.

Under The Radar - heavy rock track from SILT

Long Distance Blues - great slow blues track, I prefer this to Blues Deluxe.  Mumbling Word is also great

Around The Bend - from HTCT - nothiong wrong with this version!

Torn Down, great orginal from Y&M

Dirt In My Pocket - this is the best track on Sloe Gin and one of the best songs Joe has ever written. Why it is unplayed remains a mystery...  Black Night is also superb.
